I play 3 classes very often recently. This includes mw/bm monk, rogue and resto/balance druid.
Now the most frustrating thing about BFA for me is that i have to go to the place with the guy who resets your azerite whenever I seriously want to play other specs.
For one, the increasing price cost, which just stops me from bothering much with it and rather just play a spec suboptimally.
Then the travel time to go there and then back to the raid, which just wont happen during our heroic clears.
Not sure what will happen in 8.2 with these traits but
Just want to spill out my frustration over this somewhere.
I want to dps a boss or 2, because healing it is boring? Well its a big money and time waste to even think about it.
Also stopping me to try much assassination rogue. Just not worth the effort and i dont wanna play another dps spec suboptimally like maybe i would for a tank offspec or a dps offspec on a healer.
I hope blizzard will learn from this and stops this nonsense.
On my druid i like tanking dungeons and in PVP i like to heal in raids i like to be ranged dps and when farming i like being feral whilst doing old school content and its a pain in the booty so i agree.
In Legion I played all three specs of my paladin. Now I am stuck with holy, sometimes half-butting ret, but won’t even think about prot… Somehow managing the artifacts was easier for me than getting 3 somewhat appropriate azerite sets (at the moment I have 1 and like 2/3 of a set, always someone in the raid needs the drops more than me).
I feel like all the complaints about azerite reforging are kinda over-rated. gold cost is really small honestly, unless you spam it. issue with azerite is something else but that’s another discusion, back to the point now tho.
I have 14 415 ilvl azerite pieces, I think 4 chest, 5 shoulders and 5 helms I think.
I got set for my frost AoE even tho I dont really play it
I got set for my frost Single target
I got set for my Blood for M+
I got set for my Blood for raids
I got set for my blood when I wanna do damage
had even more azerite but scrapped bunch of it on top of it.
I just dont get how people find it hard to get pieces for different specs, especially when we’re talking about lower ilvl pieces. like HC pieces are muuuch more easier to get, and they’re cheaper. everything below as well.
main issue with azerite is how impossible it is to get BiS pieces with BiS traits, at least imo.
I like playing different specs on different raid bosses but thinking about it it was the same in legion.
In bfa I had 415 azerite on my main spec and used 385/400s on off specs while saving up for more 415s. My main spec is stronger than my off spec till then.
In legion I maxed out my main spec artifact first then worked on my off specs. So my main spec was stronger than my off specs till I powered up my off spec artifacts.
Maybe the lack of tier sets, that are multispec friendly, amplifies the problem.
Because someone at Blizzard HQ in their infinite wisdom decided to make scrapping/disenchanting the azerite pieces give dust that could contribute for buying new ones from the vendor. Thus a lot of people prefer keeping their drops rather than giving them to someone else’s NOT-main-spec.
Azerite gear is completely prohibitive to spec switching and anyone who thinks otherwise has no understanding of how the human mind works or the desire for simplicity.
In Legion if you changed spec the game even changed your artifact weapon to appropriate spec.
In BfA if you change spec you have to return to your capital and pay gold to respec each item, and then return to what you were doing, and if you wish to switch back you have to come back and do it again.
It is a completely and absolutely ridiculous system. People now feel forced to only play the one spec, as others have described. What is the point of all the quality of life updates to changing spec when Blizzard then introduces a gear system which totally undermines the whole concept.
Azerite gear trait choices should be spec specific and change when you change spec. SIMPLE.
All the current system does is restrict spec switching through arbitrary game systems. If Blizzard really wishes that then they should come clean and admit that was their intention, otherwise they should admit that they screwed up.
No reason to be rude. I have read what you wrote.
I also recall you writing in another thread about other people giving you their azerite, so that you could buy more.
Well, not everyone happens to be in the same boat. And I’ve been giving away my duplicate loot if someone needed for MS. Other raid member’s MS >>> the use my OS would see in the raid.
For some reason in Legion there were a lot of “bad relics”, that a lot of people didn’t want due to traits, but they were pretty good for stuffing the artifact ilvl. With the forge I even often managed to get reasonably decent traits out of them. An important fact is that they were dropping from m+ as well, so the supply was much larger.
A good fix for azerite traits is if they change when you change spec so like if I main WW monk and keep ww traits, then switch to mw the same azerite gear will have available talents for my mw spec, then when I change back it will change to the WW talents I chose, and the only way to reforge it is if you need to redo everything.
The way it is now that we have to have extra azerite armor pieces can be if you dont like the available traits for said spec , but like it for another you have options.
yes it was before I’d get into a guild and raid mythic, so I could afford pieces.
long story short - after getting cutting edge, I took a break for a month and half aproximately from mythic raids, and I had no 415 pieces, so I organized plate only heroic raid and took peoples azerites and bought myself 3 pieces.
so in other words, yes I did get azerite but i didnt get mythic raid pieces at that time.
Azerites fine really. It’s good to have some sort of priority within gearing and the difference between the 415 and 400(or even 385) ain’t that massive to be fair, unless you just use random traits. I don’t mind that I have to prioritize one spec over the others for the start of the season and slowly building up my offspecs. That’s just the natural process of things.
Azerite are currently the only pieces of a gear kit that have any resistance to aquire. People kept complaining that itemizations to easy, then we got something that we aquire slower and thus ofcourse people will complain about that instead.
I don’t even use all my 415’s for my main specs. since the traits are worse…
One thing I do not like about the Azerite system are the means how we aquire residuum. Scrapping gear into a resource are a horrible design decision, since this is a system entierly based around greed and luck.
They should instead had added residuum as rewards for other stuff you do. First Random HC, perhaps WQ’s, Mythic+ boxes(not only weekly), Raids, PvP, Boss kills etc. where higher content rewards more of it. It whouldn’t be a problem if people could farm it as they pleased. Scrappong however just promotes one thing; Doing stuff which "may" award azerite pieces.
Looks like the new neck system is better for those of us who want to play multiple specs on one character. You get Essences to add to your neck - some are multi-spec and some are single spec, but you can collect ones for any spec your character can play and then swap them over in any Rest Area:
Basically, your neck becomes a flexible, multi-purpose peice of Azerite gear without any reforge costs. Assuming things don’t change once they’ve gone throught PTR, that is!
With a bit of luck, Blizzard will add the Essence configuration to the equipment manager so they change automatically when you swap spec (not holding my breath on that one, though).
You should read again what i just said because i think you just didnt. Not everyone is playing mythic raids for one so I dont get 415 azerites falling in my lap. And the whole point of this discussion was how you cant play your offspecs conveniently whenever you want to, to their maximum. And if i have good traits on my 415 for an offspec why would i not want to use that piece for offspec aswell instead of some 400 piece.
So good for you drowning in azerite from raid. i dont think i got 15 even from heroic raid in total so far.
Oh and i also mentioned my alts, so they obviously dont have many options either.
