With all the drama recently, I thought I'd ask, what do people think about Kakio?

If it’s classed as ooc on AD, it’s not rp.

Yea, you got it. He never goes back on that point as far as I know. And things naturally escalate.

OOC stands for Out Of Character.

Thank you Croecell.

Hmmm… yep…most of the problem initially seems to be on different people’s definition of RP… so I can see how that is going to cause contention, if a purist does not want anything outside of Azeroth, brought into Azeroth.
Without a Private server, not really sure how that can be workable…in fact since no player is actually from Azeroth, it raises some fairly existential questions…and that’s before getting into whether or not the current Azeroth storyline is OOC.

suspension of disbelief. Come on dude, Rpers come here to pretend to be an elf, orc or undead for a few hours to get away from real life.

The plot as Blizzard designs it is the lore behind the setting so can always be taken as IC, it is the building blocks.

Look, people don’t want OOC politics crashing their game in a thinly veiled attempt to try and make it “IC”.

We have one RP server left, all the others have little to no RPers left on them. So we are going to be protective of it.

Not disagreeing with you, I stated purists want a totally Azeroth experience, however I can still see every RP’er having a slightly different take on what that means, even within the community who regards this event as OOC.

Personally if I’m in Azeroth, I tend to block out most other things…but that’s at a fairly low level of interaction with other players… not because I don’t enjoy the community… but because I always seem to have a gazillion things to get done, while in game.

Yikes, don’t read Tempercoil’s comment earlier.

I hope you’re not using this word in a derogatory way.

I hope you’re not trying to argue semantics here. You know what it means.

Hmmm… don’t think Twitch is really my thing…first time I’ve watched a game stream and its just a chat backwards and forwards with the comments section, with the game mostly in the background… and it’s over 5 hours long?!

Do not take the obvious :fishing_pole_and_fish:. Usually it comes with:

  1. a controversial opinion
  2. a controversial statement
  3. Insults
  4. If you get a feeling of “wait, this is pointless and will lead to no productive argument and/or outcome”

Usually you fill in the gaps of your characters by stating he is living since X years so he had to be present on Y events. Or maybe not. Depends entirely on what you want your characters backstory to be.

But that reminds me to write into the RP-guide I am writing a character background section.

Nope, I’m trying to use an accurately nuanced term… and I also think that just going by comments on this thread, everyone has a slightly differing opinion, while generally agreeing that the Swedish players and Taliesin idea of RP isn’t…its OOC instead.

Its not “Purists”, the common ground is we pretend to be characters who would fit into the World of Warcraft.

use the tools we have to make stories together and have fun.

Not use it as a platform to spout IRL political agendas because those IRL political agendas do not fit with the lore of Azeroth.

Hmmm… having met LARPers I’m fairly sure there a some very lively debates on what qualifies as guilty of OOC.

I also seem to remember that somewhere in Barrens there is a quest where the Horde player has to kill an NPC who is raising a workers army of Peons to try to become War Chief.

Did it reward Ge’arl Gargs’ peon manifesto because marching for a political streaming that doesnt exist in orc culture it is save to say the march was/is Non RP and from what i learned also rude for not using the realm’s native language (english) in spatial channels.

I’m a socialist and I call capitalists cucks like half the time. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s an “alt-right term”

My mistake…did a quick check and it’s part of the Allied Race quest line for Vulpera, involving the Crushblow Peons in the Twighlight Highlands, under Foreman Magrok.

Me too, and I use it specifically to get up the nose of the ‘Alt-Right’…but I am aware of exactly why they like using it and the unpleasant fantasy it concerns, which only requires ‘consent’ in their fevered imaginations.

Like I said, if someone throws it at a Leftist…that’s fighting talk, right there… especially if you have a wife and child.
