I’m working on the 100 exalted reputations and I need to level up two bodyguards in WoD - Mormmok and Vivianne.
When I hire one of them and I fly or ride away from the garrison they simply disappear. They don’t reappear in the garrison unless I fly to another zone.
Now this is two expansions ago and I can’t remember the core mechanics anymore. But afair it should be pretty simple and straight forward. Talk to a bodyguard, hire the bodyguard, mount up, and go kill something.
Am I doing anything wrong? Or is this intended as I use a level 120 char?

I figured it out and I let my post stay so other players can use it in case of dementia.
I have to assign the targeted bodyguard to the barracks. When that is done it’s possible to hire him.

Maxing both chars didn’t count towards the 100 exalted reputation achievement.
You might be confusing the ability to have a follower come to patrol with you (which all of them can be asked to do) and having a bodyguard which only 5 followers that have the bodyguard trait can do.
You need to place the bodyguard in the barracks (on the architect table), then they’ll be standing near your barracks and at that point you can ask them to accompany you.
I guess working the barracks lets them get XP that way while also ensures you won’t try to send them on missions while they’re your bodyguards.
