WoD: the most alt-friendly PvP expansion ever

I specifically stated alt-friendly for PvP. No idea how it was for PvE players.

But yes, take WoD S3.
You could get a full set of ilvl 700 honor gear day one of reaching max level, and there was only a 10 ilvl difference between that and ilvl 710 conquest gear.

You could have an alt geared up and ready for arena day 2 of reaching max level.
No AP grind, no borrowed power systems, no PvE gear or legendary required at all.

You can do that now as well.

Impress me then.
Create a new character, and prove me that you reached ilvl 200+ in one day, along with your legendary item, maximum renown and your BIS conduits.

I’m sure you can. I trust you. I’m just waiting to be amazed.

You don’t need ilvl 200 nor maximum renown or bis conduits or a legendary item to do arena.

Yes, you can queue into arena after reaching max level, with 140 ilvl. I’m very aware.
Thanks for you insightful comment.

So you set some sort of self-imposed restriction for yourself and think that’s what the game is like?

Self-imposed restrictions…This exaggerated relativism is very common on these forums.
Yes, I can queue into arena with 140 ilvl. Yes, my character is physically able to enter Castle Nathria with 140 ilvl.

Let’s not pretend that it’s not a huge handicap.
This handicap didn’t exist in WoD. Therefore, it was more alt friendly.

It was more alt friendly because your character could reach close to maximum efficiency in PvP in the least amount of time.
Do you disagree with this statement?

Yes, it was easier and faster to just queue arenas directly with a new alt to get conquest rather than waste time to get honor gear. Just like it is now once the cap goes high enough.

Now you’re just arguing about how to get maximum benefit from WoD’s alt friendliness, whereas your earlier statement was that Shadowlands was more alt friendly than WoD.

It may be fine once we reach that cap, but WoD is still more alt friendly, simply because honor gear wasn’t trash like it is now.
Besides, unlike in WoD, Shadowlands’ best conquest gear is locked behind a rating requirement, further widening the gap between players who already reached a certain rating threshold and those who’re still aiming for that threshold.

It took way too long to acquire it when you didn’t even need it to get conquest gear. This character’s highest rating in 2v2(1834) was achieved when I was still gearing up by playing arenas, being in like half lvling gear and half conquest gear.

…one day for a full set is too long?
Not only could you buy pieces with honor, you also had a chance of receiving items at the end of BGs.

One day, as in, one day /played, yes. You were better off just going straight to arenas.

Of course. But we’re still moving away from your initial point.
Do you still honestly believe that Shadowlands is more alt-friendly (for PvP) than WoD was?

Yes?

10chars

So you believe that Torghast + Renown + Acquiring conduits + low loot chances from PvE is more alt-friendly than getting a full set of PvP in a single day of reaching max level?
How?

You don’t need to do all of these things to play arena.

Those things provide a significant advantage.
150% increased healing on Earth Shield, 25% increased on the next 3 spells after using Healing stream totem, an absorb shield every 30 seconds.

To attain close to optimal power levels in PvP, it took less time in WoD than it does in Shadowlands.
Do you once again disagree with this statement?

But you don’t need optimal power level to PVP. That’s a self-imposed restriction.

You’re ignoring the question though.

Because you’re moving the goal posts.
