So I’m very excited with everything I’m hearing from the the upcoming Housing systems. That being said, it seems crazy to me that we are not getting a Wood gathering/crafting profession to go along side all of this.
Given how universal Housing is going to be from day one, why isn’t wood harvesting a tertiary prof everyone can choose to learn? There are plenty of tree models in the game that could be used as nodes. Also, almost every main crafting profession could have some use for wood as a material (or not if that’s to much of a rework), not to mention straight up making much more sense for things like Staves, polearm, bows, crossbows and making paper for scribes… so many things.
At this point, Wood gathering/crafting has so many more obvious uses over archaeology or even fishing (not that archaeology couldn’t be amazing, but that’s a whole other post).
Anyway, that’s it. With all the effort going in to housing, now’s the time to get it right and just go all in and do it right.
I reaally look forward to Player housing and i like what they plan to be completely honest.
It makes the professions we have more relevant again and also the old professions and materials. I dont think there needs to be an extra profession for that given that everyone will need to farm the new reagents to use in their professions.
And the take that it has more uses is a personal preference. I doubt someone not into player housing would argue that. And I personally like both Fishing and Archaeology - though i agree with the sentiment that especially Archaeology needs to become more relevant again - given we got the expedition and also delves and all it also would have made sense but yes another point.
As for hte Its time to get it right, yes it would be nice to get it right but its also a huge step and probably be a bit wacky at the initial launch. For me its a step forward in giving the players what they ask for and personally can be grateful for the effort to even try implement it. Everything else is wait and see.
