Work orders without your mats are basically a scam

Any time I see a work order where the buyer provides no mats or nothing more than mandatory, it’s a scam as their tip is 99% times waaaaaaaay below mats cost… I don’t know why Blizzard allowed this - this should be reverted to the original way - you bring all the mats and pay a tip on top of that.

Wait. You don’t need to bring the mats when you order something?

You didn’t know that?

No. I’m a PvP player. I used this system twice since the expansion released.

I currently have 450 gold on this character, which is my main.

Life is rough.

they changed it in 10.0.5 or 10.0.7 maybe that’s why you haven’t noticed.
it didn’t have to be a scam show but this community :man_shrugging:

Not really a scam if they are not misleading you since its clearly visible that they are not providing mats. Freeloaders will be everywhere(both in-game and real life).

but ever since the change I’m yet to see a fair offer - and frankly, some people might not be aware of exact prices so it’s still a scam.

You are contradicting yourself. They can’t willingly and knowingly “scam you” if they don’t know the prices themselves either…

no - there is no contradiction because I didn’t refer to the same group in both quotes, think harder

You know what a scam even is…right?

I don’t complete an order if there are no mats

I agree they are mostly a joke.

they are the same kind of scam when people put single low price items on AH for millions hoping someone will mass buy without noticing that 1-2 items are overpriced - I know people who fell for it by buying too fast.
Same with work orders imho - people put dumping tips with no mats, trying to scam some low awareness player into completing an order for free

Just don’t do the orders if they don’t pay enough to cover the mats cost or they don’t provide a high enough commission.

It says you’re going to use your own mats if you try to craft it.

It doesn’t matter if it says or not - the community’s approach is to try to scam people through work orders - on my server there are people trying to get expensive items with no mats for 1/3 of the mats price all the time and I bet some people fell for it or hoped for resourcefulness proc. It’s unacceptable. I don’t know why this was allowed - AH is region wide, there is no short supply of materials.

I said at the beginning that this was gonna happen unless either blizz or addon creators put a price estimate in the interface for the missing mats.

A quick search turned up this:

https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/craftsim

No idea if it works for public orders though.

Was about to say the same but Elahri was faster.
There is plenty of warning on what are you doing. There is no subterfurge, hidden small texts and etc. If your said low awareness player still ignores every possible warning.
Then perhaps take off your kiddie wheels and understand that there is a difference between a shady scam and people outright ignorance and plain… dumbness. And not expect Blizz to handhold every single transaction least somebody… ignores 50 warnings and still does something stupid. :man_facepalming:

You are all limited in your thinking. The fact it’s possible reduces the number of viable work orders to almost none - as I said, ever since this was introduced I haven’t seen anything except scam work orders. The almost useless feature was turned extremely useless. The only work orders you do now is from your alts or friends. That’s it

Pretty sure I made some 30k yesterday just from crafting crests and 2 tailoring items.

people use private orders because it’s easier , public order side needs some changes
