When I want to go to, say, Stockade, with a low-lvl alt, I usually don’t wait longer than five minutes before a regular invite. I never wait longer than only a few minutes for every dungeon. Therefore I don’t understand that there a people who pay for a ‘boost service’. Why do they do this?
Hey guys,
I just came back to WoW after a long hiatus, and I’ve been noticing something unusual in trade chat and LFG — there’s A LOT of boosting spam going on everywhere, constantly. Some even just post links like ExpCarry and the like.
I used to remember back in the day that Blizzard would clamp down super hard on boosting and RMT.
But now everybody just doesn’t care anymore? Is everything like this now?
Are people actually using these services? Is it even safe to do so?
Not trying to rile anything up — really just confused.
Is this how it is now for WoW?
They did not do anything about rmt in 2019 and they arent doing anything now. I can only recommend you to get the addon “global ignore list” which allows you to also create filters of the messages you dont want to see.
Levelling is a core part of the Classic experience, and should not be skipped, speeded up (save by legitimate rested XP) or otherwise interfered with or exploited.
I’m sorry but people who don’t like levelling are playing the wrong game.
If they “hate everything except end game” - well both Cataclysm/MOP and Retail are widely known to be heavily focussed on end game, so why are they sticking around? They can still do all of their parsing, meta, min/max stuff on those versions of WoW.
My solution to the boosting issue is simply this, as said by somebody further up. Stop ALL XP gain if grouped with one or more characters that are ten levels or more higher than them.
That will soon put a stop to this boosting nonsense.
Why are you care about boosts?
Why is this even bad?
Personally i have little respect for boosted characters, the leveling is a learning experience but that’s not the main thing i’m annoyed with. Like the OP i’m mostly annoyed by these boosters spamming EVERYWHERE, in /1, /2, even saw /3 and /4, /y and /s, didn’t check the services channel.
These boosters are forcing themselves onto everyone, i’ve been reporting them for 6 months now, NOTHING is being done about the spam so enough is enough. Blizzard can go find different ways of finding and penalizing them because i’m out, not reporting them anymore.
If Blizzard wonders why ppl are leaving Anniversary, it’s spammers, bots and the HR crowd that killing the game.
Selling boosts is the recommended way to earn gold. You can earn 1000+ gold per hour, selling boosts in Mara, for example.
Buying boosts is the recommended way to level characters. You can level 5 times as fast, compared to questing.
Enjoy Anniversary!

I have to agree with this, supposedly a server full of thousands and thousands of people but chat channels are 90% service bots or boosts
Hardly any groups going for anything, 0 ABs or Warsong outside of their respective weekends.
0 levelling groups
Hardly any LFG listings that don’t involve paying for some sort of service
You have to wonder just how much of the population are bots and not actual players
Recommended by your local gold seller.
Abd blizzard apparently since they don’t do anything to prevent buying or selling gold.
I’ve been playing wow from 2005 until now, with a break between Retail Cata and release of Classic. Of that time (half my lifetime) I’ve spent maybe 6 months total with my main not being max level. Leveling for me is by far, FAR the worst part about WoW, even worse than max level grinding gold, which I also can not stand. It took me 2 tries to even get to 60 in 2005 because of how disgusted I was with the grind on my first char, I just quit for months at level 47 or so before trying again on an RP server.
Look, if you like levelling, knock your self out, make as many alts as you like, but for some of us, a large portion of the playerbase, maybe even majority, the game starts at max level, with a horrible, tedious, repetitive 7 day long tutorial before you get there.
Yeah, but I like Vanilla-TBC-(early)Wrath dungeons and raids more that whatever Icecrown and Cata and onward is.
They solved the levelling “problem” with RDF and zone revamp in cata, but the end game became crap. It’s my biggest gripe with wow.
I understand.
I suppose we’re on opposite ends of the spectrum. I can make near-endless alts and never get fed up with doing quests, but I often have to force myself to sign up for raids because the tedium of just killing the same bosses week in, week out soon leaves me feeling burned out. Once I have the gear I need I mostly want to just stop as there’s no further reason for me to go - but I push myself in order to help others.
Yeah but there’s a middle ground where, I also dislike how long it takes to level to 60. I enjoy the experience of levelling in the world, but noone does this because it takes too long because the XP is still designed to squeeze at least 2-3 months sub out of someone in 2005 lol.
Levelling in the world with the 150% xp buff on SoD for example, neither feels too quick nor too slow and is nice pacing even playing a couple of hours a night.
Imo they should completely ban boosting any dungeon exploits (ZF farm for Mage’s for example) and make dungeons give MASSIVE xp the first two times you do them and less after that
Yes but Blizz likes making money. And the odds of someone returning after a perma ban on a new account are lower then with a temp ban.
If there were no goldbuyers then bots and their goldseller bosses wouldn’t have a reason to exist. So it’s the goldbuyers who cause the invasion of the suppliers. Ban them and the criminals vanish.
Very obviously are the official servers way better than the pirate ones. Else there would be no reason for millions of ppl to pay their sub.
And for monitoring bots on the pirate servers: When there are some few thousand players there won’t be hundreds of thousands of bots, so a little bit easier to monitir, right?
Right. And that’s the reason why their customers have to be banned. No customer - no profit.
i’m using an addon for ignoring the boosters, i’m noticing that every day 3 to 5 new boosters appear. Why can’t blizzard go back to their old policy back in 2019/2020 the former classic and just ban ALL boosters, it worked out fine in those days, why not now.
Why would you lie about this? Or do you just misremember? Boosting was completely legal and allowed from 2019 all the way to wrath where they disabled it by removing XP if the party member was 10 levels above you. And even then lvl 71-80 were occasionally boosted in wrath dungeons. I even did some casual Stockade boosting during Naxx Classic and got no warning or ban.
Ah it’s you again, this time even calling me a liar.
You know, you could’ve pointed out to me that i must have understood things the not entirely right or completely the wrong way.
Or you could’ve told me that’s not the whole story or not exactly what went on among a few other things.
But you didn’t, you chose to condemn me.
On the boosting subject, yes there were bans in 2020 for boosting. Yes there were boosting communities, they were banned. Back then boosting bots went rampant on all channels. There’s clearly a boosting community again.
The huge amount of spam coming from profession-bots, portal bots, boosting bots etc makes certain channels unreadable. They bot in every area/way possible in Anniversary and they post their spam into the wrong channels.
As soon as advertisement is put into the wrong channels it becomes a reportable thing and that’s how ppl get their bans.
The ppl like you doing some occasional boosting, i have a guildie doing the same, i don’t see them advertise as aggressive as the bots do, in fact i rarely see those boosts adverts at all. (and yes we’re on the same realm/faction lol)
So if you feel like condemning me or anyone else another time, take a deep breath and use ur brains maybe you can give some respect and ask why ppl say things.
