World of Magecraft

No matter what spec you play for mage it’s pretty simple. All the classes in the game are incredibly simple while leveling or just pve in general is really simple.

Sheep and/or nova the add while you focus on your main target.

I cannot think of many situations where I’ve had to abandon a fight because there were too many mobs for me to handle while playing a single target spec.

As I said good for you, I have played 5 specs for now, ofc I am not at max level with them , but mage is by far hardest class to level out of thous 5 classes.

Primary ranged DPS class actually does very good damage? No way! Who would have thought! What a bummer

You’re not listening. Mage is not a hard to class to level.

You’re opinion doesn’t trump fact and the fact of the matter is mages are one of the easiest classes to level and in general to play as well.

Edit: If you honestly think mage is a difficult class to level then that reflects more on you as a player than the class itself.

Look guys. Mage isn’t hard to level even single target. As others said, you have sheep, frost nova, blink, slowing ice shield, ice bubble at 40… Prepared mage can deal with a pull of 3 mobs same level as long as he can sheep one. Rogue in that situation is forced to vanish, warrior is simply dead. Even Priest will probably have to blow every single cooldown.
That being said, single target mage is actually one of the slower classes to level, believe it or not. Actually, only Warrior, Paladin and Rogue are slower.

I previously played rogue and loved it. Now I wanted to try something ranged and I have to say mage is cool, but mana is driving me mad. In dungeons I am oom all the time. I just gave up and tell tank to pull when I have 50 % of mana, waiting for the full pool to recharge is endless. Mage is really strong in PVP, but in PVE it´s getting really boring. On the other hand many groups prefer mages so it´s easier to get into dungeon group. I wish Blizzard boosts other classes so they are viable.

I don’t think there is any need for balance changes. Everyone in vanilla has a role to play, even if some classes are better at their “pure” role (e.g. Priest is the best overall healer, but Druid has combat res and innervate and whatnot, so they are also needed).

What on earth are you on about? Shattercombo spec you can 2-3 shots mobs and drink every 3-4 mobs. Coming from a guy who was arena master on retail back in the days, had a 60 mage on private Server and is now 41 on classic with a single target spec.

I did not say it is slow class to level, I do not care what you can do at level 40+, everyone can do something at level 40 +, I actually play more then 1 class and can compare how easy it is to do content with each of them, mage clearly is not slowest class to level, especially with aoe xp farming, but it is far from easiest class to level.

So what is supposed to be easier ?

Maybe read my comments, answer is somewhere there, all classes have way better kits to survive, does not mean that they are faster to level though, except warrior probably, but I do not play him so it is just a guess.

The only class that frustrates me somewhat is Paladin. Not because it’s hard, because it’s boring. Other than that I find them all similarly easy to level. Mages, if anything, have a much better toolkit than other classes. Sheep alone is a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Relaxe. The reason why you see so many mages in MC for example is because they are easy to level compared to many other classes. The rest will catch up. In a few week it will be world of warriorcraft.

Clearly better then faint death right?
I think you lack understanding what is fast leveling class and what is easy leveling class.
same as difference between hard class to play and bad class to play.

They happen to be same in this case, really.

No they don’t at all, one has cast time and works on only 1 target.
But it doe shave utility to make it faster to level.

And how this exclude it being simple and fast ? Or are you saying the need to drink makes it a complex class ?

Because lvling in a party with an AOE build, doesn’t mean that lvling solo on mobs with high resist or immunity makes it easy. It also doesn’t mean that the good spots for AoE farming/leveling will be free/uncontested and full of mobs.
