It was really something when Blizzard brought back old dungeons into the M+ pool, and doing old fated raids for a season felt like a cool throwback. But by the second or third time, the charm wore off.
Ever since Blizzard hit it big with the nostalgia content, it feels like they can’t let it go. Can we please move on from the constant recycling? The MoP Remix was entertaining for a few days, but it quickly turned into a mindless farm for people already burned out from killing Sha of Anger or Nalak for years. Are we really going to pretend like Legion Remix isn’t gonna be the same? And what will happen when they run out of actually good expansions to remix? Will we get Mop Remix Classic?
Now we’re getting even more recycled junk, just dressed up in different wrapping. Horrific Visions were garbage then, and they’re still garbage now. The only fun part back then were the corruptions that were so broken and unbalanced it was actually forgivable that the whole expansion reeked of doodoo feces for a couple weeks, so naturally, Blizzard brought back some watered down version of corruptions that might as well not exist. What kind of catch up system is this supposed to be if it’s this mind numbingly dull and no one will want to engage with it past week 2?
Stop it with the recycled content. Not everything needs to come back. Some stuff should stay buried DEEP in the ground. Let’s stop pretending some of this old content was good when it clearly wasn’t.
We’re stuck in this awful cycle of short attention span expansions with three raid tiers max, and a bunch of filler that’s either reused or painfully uninspired (Siren Isle, Nightfall). They’re charging us full price for glorified timewalking and failed project repackaged as content and on top of that they time gate it all because they hate you so much. They know this content sucks. They know what they’re doing and they’re doing it out of pure spite.

I dont mind recycled content but I do mind timegated recycled content.

Thing is, reusing assets saves valuable development time. Creating new models, zones, systems is very resource-intensive and Blizzard’s art + engineering teams reportedly cost millions annually.
So, by reusing existing content, they can deliver updates faster and focus their efforts on headline features like new storylines, raids, etc.
Bottom line: it’s mostly gonna be that or enduring entire seasons of semi-drought. What do you prefer?

I have never enjoyed recycled content but we just keep getting more of it.

I think they could have at least offered a new Map for visions
Wanna know what would have been really cool? If they made visions in a section of reworked silvermoon as a teaser for next expansion
But honestly, I’m enjoying the visions a lot right now, so it’s /shrug kinda to me

They make money easy like this, so they will do it as long as people pay a sub for it, as this game has a lot of addicts…

Or leave hidden cookies stacked in places of vision

They seemed to do just fine in previous expansions. It’s fine if they want to bring back some stuff every now and then but as of late it feels like the majority of the content we’ve been getting is content that already existed.

Bringing back visions would have been nice if they would have made other cities with other bosses etc etc.
When’s the last time we got a filler ‘raid’?
its so cheap! i guess the budget wasnt enough to give us 2 new cities atleast. We better buy some more store mounts so they can afford it

While I can see what you mean, the content is completely dead otherwise. How many people do you think have done a single vision since Shadowlands came out? I’m probably one of the 0.1%.
How many players have started AFTER this content became irrelevant? Considering how many people are active in newcomer chat I’d probably put it in the hundreds of thousands.
It’s not just nostalgia. For many this is new content. You can set the system up and scale it every now and then, make it evergreen for people to experience and they’ll be happy to do it. It’s low effort returning of things that people can never play properly otherwise. By the time remix is out legion will be 10 years old. Even I started after Legion. I got to experience its story and content during BFA, but once again, how many will go and do that? They’re making this because people have been asking for years for old content to be revived.
Also I mentioned the word evergreen. You forgot the mage tower existed, right? But it’s still rescaled every expansion. Delves are here to stay. Now visions will be here to stay. I don’t get how can you be mad about this when the alternative is 0 effort horrible patches like the timed event in hallowfall and siren isle. Torghast is probably next and they’ve already fixed the shadowlands skip and allow torghast runs at lvl 10. They very clearly are fixing the things people wanted.
its at no surprise, there isnt any streamers for WoW anymore that break decent numbers
at least for retail…
im both happy and relieved a game im normally addicted to and play every day , i have no feeling or urge to log in
and ive done 3 masks vision already, its not a biggy
hopefully the player housing can relight my passion
