The moment you announced the 20th anniversary event, I wanted to participate. I have played World of Warcarft since the very beginning and was anticipated to join the festival event celebrating 20 years of the game and the World of Warcraft community.
But…
I never thought that I would be restricted in the event due to my purchases of the game. While doing the different events, I understood that I could not complete or join several of them as I do not have the latest expansion, “The War Within.”.
There are no statements on your main page, your announcement of the event, on WoWhead, or anywhere else that only people who have the latest expansion can do all the activities. The entry for most of the activities is level 15, yet I received a message that I cannot complete the Chromie scenario as I don’t have “The War Within” and I do not receive any loot or event tokens from the bosses in the new raid “Blackrock Spire”, but mobs in the raid still drop loot for me.
Please tell me why, as a WOW player who has been with the game for 20 years and who has played all the expansions must be restricted and cannot fully enjoy the event that was made to celebrate the game and the WOW community.
Sure its an anniversary and it would be nice if everyone -even those that do not own TWW could participate in everything, but then again they want to make money so it only makes sense for people to have to own the latest expansion.
It’s not a problem about buying the new expansion. The event was advertised by blizzard that all wow players can join and participate in it and I don’t remember that there was a statement by blizzard that only TTW players can 100% complete the event objectives. Why there should be a restriction and dividing amongst WOW players who own the latest expansion and players who don’t, as the event is named World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary Event, not The War Within celebration party for World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary. Also aren’t the Classic WoW players WoW players too, most of them probably don’t own TTW expansion, but it is very stupid to have a restriction for an event that should be for all World of Warcraft players.
I really hope that Farnham is correct and this is just a bug that is being fixed.
