World of Warcraft: Classic and Burning Crusade Classic Characters and Realms

Ok i have a question i didn’t understand. I started on Ten storms and it’s now a dead server really dead like only 5 60s online at a time. So if i choose to stay in classic era my chars will be stuck on that server until i pay to transfer or you will merge some servers on the new platform?

Does not matter if fresh or old, botters will still make gold for gold farmers and lazy people will still buy gold to pay boosters so economic wise will be sh it unless blizzard remove bots and boosters

I, just like many others, would really like a fresh server.

I get so damn annoyed by people telling us that we shouldn’t have it…

Why?

I want a fresh server to experience everything from the beginning again.

And I want to be surrounded by people that wants the same.

We don’t want to start over on server where everyone will be ready with the game by the time we hit 60. We don’t want to start on a server where everyone already have enough money to buy everything TBC end-game has to offer.

For those who don’t want a fresh server, stay on the one you already play on.
It is that simple!

The only thing the “I-don’t-want-a-fresh-server” willy-Wonka’s is afraid of is their precious server dying because all other wants to start over.

You don’t want the rest of us for anything else than “cannon fodder” for your precious super-farmed-buffed character you’ve been gearing non-stop for the last year.

We want a fresh server to start over, and to be surrounded with folks alike.
People who actually enjoys the game, the whole game and not just completing end game as fast as possible.

As a side note - And this is important…

If you are thinking of the argument “but you can start a new character on an existing realm and have a fresh experience there” please ** *** **** ***** ********* *****. Sorry for the language!

That is by far the most unintelligent argument I’ve come across.

If you even get that thought through your head you have completely missed the entire point of the need for a fresh server

You are stuck, if you don’t want to pay for transfers. In TBCC you are stuck on that server, in Era Blizz will do some kind of merge later, but not right away.

Continuing the discussion from World of Warcraft: Classic and Burning Crusade Classic Characters and Realms:

So what happens to us on a server such as Stonespine where we have 26 Alliance players left because everyone transferred off (it was a medium populated server of around 2000-2,500 Alliance but outnumbered by more aggressive and vindictive horde). Are we stuck with the choice of being on a dead server with nothing on the Auction house in Classic or the same scenario in TBC with even fewer numbers as you’ve forced a split on our remaining player base. We are paying for an immersive MMO and we are not getting that experience. It is not fit for purpose. Will server mergers be implemented to address this issue or is the only solution to it to bring a class action lawsuit?

Sadly Stonespine died a slow and painfull death but there most likley wont be server mergers and you wont win a lawsuite seeing as you pay for access to the servers not for anything els and you have access to other servers and to Stonespine as well so blizz is upholding their end of everything

I have been reading the posts and I am a little stuck on one thing. Say my current character is level 35 and I opt in to the TBC version of the game, leaving behind original wow classic. What then happens to that character? Do I start fresh? Get instantly boosted to 58?. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated

Sorry but it’s so very obvious if you read the TBC blog, you stay exactly the same unless you buy a boost. Also, you don’t opt into anything, you choose between TBCC and Classic-era, you cannot play until you do, or pay to do both with the same character.

These things have no connection to retail.

Not only that but fresh server is really bad for business.

It means less boost selling and less gdkp for players currently dominating Classic servers.
Typically some big guilds do both. And considering the gold selling linked to that it means less RL money at the end of the month to pay bills etc.

What do people mean by fresh servers? Everyone starting back at level 1? Only wiping player’s money? Because I don’t know.

I started to level my character six weeks ago specifically for TBC. I’d sure like to keep that character.

You can transfer off just like other 2500-3000 players did before. Deadline is 30th April.

please, please, please tell us HOW MUCH IS IT?? “optional paid service” - let us at least plan - if it is £50 I won’t do it - if it is £10 I might.

no, i think blizz should give them free transfers like on some servers. After all, they are the ones who pay them.

@Trulli: When people speak about fresh realms, they generally mean a realm that is entirely new and on which transfers in and boosts are not allowed.

You are not going to get reseted, so no need to worry about that.

The character will transfer to the TBC version of the game as it is now. With no (or minimal changes) i’d for safety empty mailbox but other then that everything should be exactly the same

Will there be an option to chnage name, i have played my main for the entire of classic and would like my new main to take its name for TBC

Your character get copied, or its token if you don’t actually flag it for tbc, so your name will be taken (initially) . You can then most delete that version of your old main to make a new main. However that would leave a small window where your name can be taken.

Doing this however will not enable you to play your old main on both classic forever and tbc classic. It depends how important your current main is for you

The only reason I can see that they might not want to do fresh is there worried the demand for fresh might wreck the current servers. They will then have even more problems on their hands because they’ve spilt the player base again. But i think some compromise needs to given here i.e a name delete for people who haven’t been around for over 2 years in-game amongst many other things…

asking for clarifications from devs will mail and such also stay the same or do you have to loot the mail with items that you wanna keep ? Would be good with a clarification. I’m assuming so since there are no mentions of this. But just checking as you can’t transfer a char with stuff on the mail without losing it. I belive I’m not the only one wondering about this.
