Hello, I do not often write on forums, but today I experienced something, that made me grateful and hopeful which I would like to share with you. I was killing elites in the Maw where the new world boss is and of a sudden, a couple of people came by and started helping, horde and alliance both. We have even interacted with speech (I mean the written word). That was something I haven’t seen in a long time in WoW.
I think this investigation and lawsuit stuff could potentially be something nobody focuses on. A community reborn. A lot of YouTubers post they are quitting and stuff, but they are one type of a person. I wouldn’t give much to them since they mainly doing that for the money, not for the players and the game itself. (There are some like Asmongold who are true geeks but they are few)
Now that Blizzard employees stood up for themselves in this situation and WoW players helping out each other and looking out for each other could potentially turn World of Warcraft into what it was before. Now we know that the devs are trying to listen and implement stuff which is actually cool, but the directors and executives are holding them back to turn things sour.
The time is now, for World of Warcraft and Blizzard to turn itself around and be the King of MMO again.
10.0 have the potential to be the mark of renewal with faction merge and cooperation ahead. However, I suspect 10.0 will be delayed for years due to the situation blizzard is in right now. 10.0 will require time and resources which the company wont have to be able to create the next extension within the normal schedule.
A lot of people are still against faction merge, perhaps for a good reason. It is an iconic feature of this game after all
While I’m all in favor of a faction merge, the narrative team would have to tell some amazing stories to keep the adrenaline rush going (not like Alliance vs Horde gives much adrenaline anyway) but I can see so many good things coming out of it
Best compromise is that the factions remain for PVP and lore purposes but that we can guild and group together for raids and dungeon.
As for the narrative team telling amazing stories, lol. Shadowlands is set as far from the Horde and Alliance as possible and they still can’t tell a good one. The faction conflict isn’t why the narrative is poor, it’s because they are bad at telling stories.
I’m not sure they even have the personnel left at Blizzard who would be capable of designing an MMORPG from the ground up.
I really can’t see where the game goes from here. They certainly can’t carry on with their 2 year schedule of churning out unfinished expansions. Or maybe they can if the same numbers of people continue to part with their cash only to play the game for a week and then quit? You’d like to think they can’t keep that going forever though.
A faction merge should of course not remove the option of enabling the Horde-Alliance RP-PVP, which toggle should replace the the current and outdated PvP-toggle. More about that here: Let's have a faction merge in 10.0!
I would disagree about streamers. Most I have heard from their mouth they have generally the right idea what made WoW good. And I believe most of their viewers agree on that. So I would not say “there is only few so who care about them” .
I don’t think a faction MERGE should be a thing.
HOWEVER… Cooperation between the 2 factions should definitely be a thing.
Horde and Alliance should still have their own identities and flavour, but the players should be able to play with other players, no matter what their chosen faction might be.
