With the 15th anniversary of Blizzard coming to and end, i would like to thank them for it. I for one had a lot of fun the past couple of months in Korrak’s Revenge. Sure there were leechers and nubheads and daft monkeys, but that didn’t take away the fun for me.
Here are some numbers for what i got out of that BG:
60 different characters taken in there to battle
600 Marks of Honor rewarded (Yay more transmogs!!!)
An additional 29 character levelled to 120
32 Honor levels gained
4 mounts gotten (Horde and Alliance event mount and two Coursers)
1 Toy
1 Pet
1 Title
2 Artifact skins unlocked
Around 10.000 gold from selling the Korrak weapon rewards and some small stuff
Also a handfull of achievements (25000 Honorable Kills )
I wish i could say how many battlegrounds i did in total, but alas i forgot to keep track I can say the longest BG i was in took over 3,5 hours. The shortest was done in 20 minutes.
Allthough the whole event was a lot of fun during this whole period, the first couple of weeks stand out. Those weeks, people summoned the bosses almost every BG and even summoned the extra elite troops and stuff. Sure the BG took a little longer, but it was a load of fun!
Also not related to Korrak’s revenge, i got the Worldbreaker Mount and Lil’ Nefarian pet. The timewalking raids you had to do to grab the worldbreaker mount were fun in their own way. If it was me, i’d have implemented a full fight instead of just a fragment. Also i would’ve let people requeue on the boss they wiped on, instead of doing them all again.
So concluding, thank you very much Blizzard it was a very rewarding and fun anniversay, bring on number 16!
Well done, you’ve truly been making the most of the anniversary event! I too have very much enjoyed it and levelled up some characters that otherwise I may not have touched - got all horde allied race heritage armours now! I agree that the first few weeks of Korrak were the most fun - back before you got shouted at for even suggesting to go Korrak and when Icy Boi was actually relevant!
I am happy for you that you enjoyed it.
It was extremely dissapointed.
One Sided battleground.
Constant defeat( about 90-95%)
AFK’ers in every BG
Raid event was extremely dissapointing
no good mogs or achievements
Rude players base when you try to win the BG
All in all for a 15th aniversary i expected ALOT more. It was a PVP event most of all, the most boring content in all the game.
Sorry Blizz, but you screw up big time.
But thats how i feel, how i see it, You enjoyed yourself and thats the most important
The mount is a perfect addition to my black ninja special forces dh mog. (I dislike horns, male chests showing and male skirts…tbh the whole class fantasy is trash I just like how it plays).
Before I had the herb robot and it made a wonderful cacophony of sounds. It said we’re rdy to go the moment you sat on it.
This one does nothing, or idk does it very quietly.
Between Korrak’s Revenge, Chromies Memories event, Classic World Bosses and all the different rewards we hope there was something there for everyone to take part in!
It’s a celebration of not only the game that many of us love but also all the players who have been with us at different stages of the game’s 15 year history!
What would be some cool ideas for future anniversaries or events?
The Korrak’s Revenge concept was great - a scaled battleground that you could join at any level and use that to level up. However, it would have been more enjoyable on a more balanced map without the bugged places where people could afk. I’d love to see this idea again in future, but on another map or even a variety of maps to show the history of various WoW conflicts.
Revisiting old raids was also fun (especially for someone like me who didn’t do them when they were current) - but please let us queue for them in the raid finder tool rather than having to go to caverns of time!
Well i for one like things that have a great replayabilty value, like Korrak’s Revenge, in this instance. Rewards don’t have to be big, but getting some honor, xp, MoH, timewalk badges etc. makes it more fun
I also like it when you can do the events in a large group. There was, besides some namecalling etc. also a lot of friendly banter going around. I don’t think i have talked this much with people in years.
So i would like more of these events. The scaling was very nice but as Ceranity mentioned, it would be nice if it were possible to prevent people from cheating as much as possible.
All in all the best events in the past 15 years imho were Hillsbrad vs Tarren Mill, the 40 person version of Molten Core, Korrak’s Revenge, Timewalking old raids.
I can see myself do a lot more of these kind of events if they were to be released in the future.
Oh and as punyelf says; Also some good old fashioned pre-patch events would be good. Like the undead invasion, or the opening of AQ. Last couple of events have been really short and forgetfull
I would like to get open world content for events, something that you can walk in and not need big group or to queue, for example:
Old expansion prelaunch events.
Old grinds reactivated for certain time (grind your heart out for example scourgestones, do war effort, TBC apexis shards etc.).
Devs running around in world as world bosses and we trying to chase them and down them (they used to do this in Rift time to time and it was super fun).
Take ALL old daily areas, activate them to drop current level celebratory loot.
