World quests refresh

  • Week 1: Vanilla Vibes: Venture into classic zones for a variety of daily quests, rare spawns to hunt down, and bosses to defeat for awesome loot.
  • Week 2: The Burning Crusade Blast: Head to Outland and take on a mix of world quests, including PvP objectives and rare monster hunts.
  • Week 3: Wrath of the Lich King Wonders: Explore Northrend and tackle world quests that range from battling powerful foes to gathering rare resources.
  • Week 4: Cataclysm Conquest: Brave the revamped zones of Mount Hyjal and Twilight Highlands for a mix of quests, including ones that involve aiding NPCs and collecting items.
  • Week 5: Pandaria Pursuits: Discover the beauty of Pandaria with world quests that cover everything from defeating enemies to completing puzzles and challenges.

Why can t we get stuff like this?

Old Vanila Zones could even be ground mounts only,
personally I am bored of flying around DF zones at this point.

Do you want the metrics for the new expansion to tank?!

Dude I would love this, obviously depends on the rewards but if there was something cool to gain from it, like the old zones get scaled up for that week and we get tokens for completing things in them then we can trade that in for limited mounts and pets and transmog that would be awesome.

Love this idea, you got atleast me hyped :dracthyr_comfy_blue:

I do world quests as part of the reputation grind. Would be difficult if they are no longer in the current expansion.

I’m not a fan of recycling but clearly others are ofc. The players base is always split on these things and they can’t please everyone. There are always some who want a reason to revisit the old world.

I’m not sure I’d want it in the form of world quests though.

Agree, I would like to see the old zones more alive, since I love to spend my times there, but think some kind of “events”(dear god please nothing like Dig trait one) would be better solution then world quests.

I’ve seen a few people praise GW2 for their events but i have no knowledge of them myself.

Obviously it would need to have it’s own WoW interpretation and twist.

World quests have big advantages over timed events: They’re not timed, and don’t require lots of people.

Arriving in a zone just a few minutes too late to participate in events and having to wait almost an hour for them to start again is a pain, or doing things like the soup event (Or forbidden reach rares, the time event, siege…) when other people are done with it.

Blizz are working on fixing the “Do it when it’s new or forget about ever doing it” that has plagued events throughout the expansion, but WQs wouldn’t have that issue to begin with.

Tying old world with the newest expansions is not that difficult at all. Even more: it makes the world actually feel alive and connected. A few ideas out of top of my head for Dragonflight:

Dragonscale Expedition: Our discoveries into Titan/Dragon lore made in the Dragon Isles shed a new light on our previous discoveris in Loch Modan/Badlands/etc., and we sent a group of explorers there - go and help them out.

Maruuk Centaur: after years of isolation, the Maruuk learned about Desolace/Barrens centaur and decided to establish connections with them. Go and help our ambassadors.

Iskarra Tuskar: Similar to the Maruuk Centaur, they can go to other Turskar tribes to trade/connect/exchange stories

Valdrakken Accord: answering the call of the isles made us abandon some of our holdings/activities in other parts of Azeroth. Go and check up on the state of affairs.

Dream Wardens: With our attention focused on Fyrrak, the portals to emerald dream in Duskwood/Feralas/Ashenvale/Hinterlnds are unprotected. Go and check out if everything is ok up there.

Edit: made some spaces to make the text more readable

It would feel very disjointed to me to gain rep for current expansion in old but each to their own. But again I would rather not have yet more world quests.

I think WQ should be used only for events, such as Legion Invasions. The Primal Storms and Time Rifts should have been more like the BFA invasions, you do 4 WQs then do a little scenario.

I mouse over a WQ now and the reward is 3 crests or a 415 item. They give 50 or 75 rep, which when you need 75,000 rep for max renown with some factions is just irrelevant.
Probably the only reason I did WQ in the last two expansions (outside of BFA invasions) was the Emissary / Calling. And I don’t really want to go back to those either.

WQ is not a good way to do this.

Legion did a pretty good job at making the old world relevant. We had to visit various places to acquire our Artifacts. I as a Shaman went to the Isle of Thunder to get the Fist of Raden. My DH went to Outland and did stuff at the Black Temple.

WQ are basically marks on the map you mouse over to see if the reward is worth the travel time to get there.
They are just chores (for want of a better word) that barely relate to Lore or Character or the World. If you like the reward you go there and kill 12 mobs or fills a % bar and voila, reward. These aren’t interesting or fun activities (Dragon Races might be for those capable of doing them, I’m not).

I think WQs have had their day as just standard open world activity. Use them in events like Time Rifts but don’t just scatter them accross the map with pathetic rewards.

This was just a starting Thought,

It just feels like the whole old world is abandoned, why not have something similar to TimeWalking but with Zone stuff?

I do think that Timewalking could use some solo content. Chromie could send us to do tasks for her.
Maybe she would like use to use the selfie cam to take pictures of certain places or events or characters back in a certain time.
Maybe she would like us to retrieve some objects, Bishop Benedictus hat from End Time dungeon.
Maybe it’s speak with Akama in Black Temple.

We would then have to go travel the world to do these things. These wouldn’t be difficult and might prompt players into running some old dungeons and raids again.
This is more about the journey and the lore of the game than about a new piece of challenge gameplay.

Edit to add:
My argument isn’t about doing stuff in the old world, I like when we get to do stuff in the old world. Some of it is nostalgia and some of it is I like to see the world being used rather than just sitting there.
My argument is against World Quests. They’re not an engaging tool. Players just open the map and mouse over the markers. If the reward is ok they go and do it if not they ignore it. They aren’t interested in the world or even in the activity.
