World's scale is off?

https://imgur.com/a/4ct4IU9

I noticed often times the grass or flowers or even road pavement is off the scale, it’s just too large. Grass cannot be the height of an average human because it wouldn’t be able to support its own weight without being rigid, and these flowers and the grass looks like your regular soft grass and flowers.

I understand when people played zoomed out they don’t notice this, but with an over-the-shoulder action camera this is very noticable.

The world otherwise looks pretty good, but this one thing is rather immersion-breaking.

Yeah, everything is scaled up because most people play with the camera zoomed out as much as possible. You wouldn’t be able to see any details if things were realistically sized. I mean, fully zoomed out your character is about the same size as a random unit in an RTS game.

I think you can find lots more than environment that isn’t to scale. :slightly_smiling_face: WoW isn’t particularly known for its focus on realism, in its world design.

I think the larger plantations and flora are done so, to give off a “wild and magical” feel to the world, since the dragon isles are are untouched sanctuary.

I just assume our characters are teeny tiny… That is why night elves can have a whole city and forest on a 20 year old tree.

It’s a dragon expansion. Those roads were made by the Green Dragonflight and other large creatures.

Second, it’s a fantasy world. A lot of stuff doesn’t make sense, it just looks good.

Oh, don’t get me started on the weird wall textures in the Stormwind Cathedral. There are literally windows on one side and on the other side of the same wall is a brick texture.

Magic flowers in a world of magic ^^

And magic buildings, its actually a bunker but with illusion magic made to look like a Cathederal, multi purpose!

Same with paladin orderhall, its underground but has light shining through inside

Uh huh.

I love arguements like this. “This grass is not realistic” runs off on a car sized frog while dragons flock the skies like birds

Dragon sized plants, for dragon sized island.

:man_shrugging: I know this sounds silly, but for me personally this is very immersion breaking. I feel like if the grass and flowers were normal sized, I’d enjoy the scenery so much more. It’s a personal thing I guess.

This very specific thing is immersion breaking for you or just a drop in the ocean?

Becasue… “deep breath”

Floating Islands, World trees, Portals to other cities/worlds/realms, helicopters/tanks made out of wood and powered by steam, yellow submarine/ submarine turtles (warcraft 2), Guns/spaceguns, Spaceships etc and these things are just the normal everyday things in wow.

Animals that range from Giant bees (do they still count as insects?) to Dinosaurs. That Nelfs turn into satyrs with fel corruption while orcs just change skin for reasons. Btw why do Nelf get so drastic changes based on their corroption? From Satyr, Naga, Flame druid, demon hunter to the original Worgen, or whatever the WoD version was?

But its the slightly big flora that breaks the immersion?

All that is relevant on Earth. We do not play on Earth.
