Worst decision blizzard has made

Wait to double down on a bug - making World Boss mounts less rare shows just how little Blizzard values the time of their dedicated player base.

Of course the general public will be happy as they have to do significantly less work, but what about the people that sat and farmed these religiously for a decade?

Making a prestigious achievement/item more obtainable not only devalues the players that worked for it, but simultaneously turns an exciting and rare item into another every day object.

Some items should remain rare, they give people a goal to aspire toward and they carry a weight to them. If everything is easier, where do we find drive and satisfaction? As in life, somethings should be difficult.

As a dedicated player who has spent their life enjoying this game, having that time devalued makes me feel like going forward I would rather invest that time with a company that values it appropriately, and that is a sad moment.

The game that started out as the game that valued player achievement and dedication, has become the game that tries to please the masses and loses it’s unique shine in the process.

I think of it as fixing a mistake. Very low drop rate mounts were, if you do the maths, a tease to the addicted. Not a good look. It’s past time blizzard realised that they are supposed to be working with, not against, their players.

Idk I’m kinda happy with the Change, I’ve been farming them since 7 years and got only 2 of them, seems so stupid and complete waste of time at some point.

Assuming you’re on about the Sha mount bug?? They took the easy option of buffing the drop rates for everyone instead of rolling back the characters (specifically the lizard people) who exploited the bug - i just wish i knew about it before the hotfix…

1/2000 drop chance mounts should have never been added in the first place. Absolutely ridiculous drop rates, designed to incentivize the use of BMAH as they both came out together. Terrible design.

I had over 9k attempts on Sha and looted the mount instantly after the hotfix went live today. While it’s certainly a bittersweet pill to swallow to some, myself included, ultimately I do think this change is for the betterment of the game.

What doesn’t make sense is why they didn’t also apply this drop rate change to the Mechagon 1/2000 mounts and the Love Rocket. Missed opportunity.

This is the best solution.

I don’t know - finally owning it after 9k attempts, would you still be happy when you go into Orgrimmar and see every single player using the mount in 30 days time? I feel like it has now completely lost it’s value and that is sad.

You should have never done that tbh. Games shouldn’t have 0.1% drop rates. Developers shouldn’t make players repeat a boring content for hundreds of times.

It changes the “value” of the mount for sure, both literally as in BMAH value, and sentimental value, agreed.

Ultimately, though, when it can be obtained through BMAH it doesn’t really carry the same sentimental value to me. When you see people on it there’s a good chance they just bought the mount for a couple of millions on a dead realm. Meh

I have some of the rarest mounts in game and honestly? This is the best change ever. Nobody deserves to deal with this, do the same thing over and over and over for years. You shouldn’t kill a boss thousands of times for a mount. This is not okay, it’s not fun, you aren’t having fun doing that even if you’re against the change somehow. Also it’s not gonna be a 100% drop either

I just cannot understand why people have a sense of achievement over spending €2000 or logging in literally every day, killing a mob in 2 hits, and then logging off.

That’s not impressive. It’s just completely addictive behavior.

Well no - but what I’d be unhappy about isn’t that everybody has it. What I’d be unhappy about is killing the same ridiculously easy mob 9000 times.

It’s just not normal. There’s something wrong with people who do that. Yeah, I’m being judgmental I suppose, but I really feel it’s justified. If you do something like that you’ve really got an unhealthy obsession, seriously.

It took 270 Baron Rivendare kills (back in WotLK) for me to get the mount, yet I inspected DkarthĂşzdk in Dalaran on the mount with 3 kills.

I feel that increasing droprates of mounts will only make players feel HAPPY about getting them instead of the relief I’ve felt when I’ve gotten mounts I’ve farmed a long time for. It should be “I get to ride on this now. Yay!” and not “Thank God I don’t have to endure this dungeon anymore”

A mount should not take that many attempts on a weekly lockout to begin with.

Stop being so hyperbolic. “Worst Decision”? Not by a country mile.

Love this decision, it’s a good move on Blizz’s behalf.

So you’d rather farm for literally years for an ugly mount which you probably wont use? It baffles me that people love to farm for something for over 10 years, good god, the game might be dead by then and you’d still farm this on god knows how many alts weekly? You’re literally wasting time constantly, 15 min spawn time, sometimes up to 20 min, kill it for 30 seconds and then move to the next boss, how on earth do you guys justify farming this thousands upon thousands of times?? I’ve legit got almost every single mount from every single xpac and the MoP world bosses are the things I DESPISE, 1 out of potential 2000 attempts, absolutely horrendous.

We’re talking about the same mounts that some random newbie who just started the game can get on their first attempt and instead of enjoying every other aspect of the game and farm other mounts, toys, pets, achievments, rio, pvp rank n etc, you’d prefer to spend hours upon hours camping world bosses and just to click them for 10 seconds and move to the next…

MASSIVE W FOR BLIZZ

Blizzard isnt resposible for you”re life time invested in wow.

The changes are good for everyone.

The fact you no lifed for a mount, doesnt mean it didint had significance for bk than, but also doesnt mean what blizzard does right now its bad.

It was you”re choice to grind, no one actualy forced you.

So you”re responsible for how you feel, not blizzard.

And business wise, every company catters to the many not to a few exceptions.

Thats how a productive business works best

Imagine if he grinded thwt time at a gym instead and having the mount in 5 tries:)

Let that be a lesson, don’t waste your life farming a bunch of pixels in a video game. The drop rates can be tweaked at any moment and if that’s going to invalidate your reason for farming the item, then it wasn’t worth farming in the first place.
