WOTLK Classic specific.

Due to the Blizzard announcement that we’d be allowed to create one DK on an existing realm without having a character above 55 there, I figured it’d be a good time to start a char on a realm some people I know are on.
I created my Death Knight, but I quickly decided I wanted to play a different race than I had chosen. I deleted the DK, thinking there’s be a mechanism in place to allow me to create a new one, as the first one had been deleted. Alas, I was met with the message that I need a level 55 character on the server to create a DK.
I then attempted to restore the deleted DK, but it was nowhere to be found.
You cannot create a DK on Fresh realms Thekal and Giantstalker without a level 55 on the same realm. Sounds like you changed from another realm to one of those between creating a DK.
I get the message “You must have an existing character of at least level 55 on any realm to create a Death Knight” on those two realms.

Which realm was it? You obviously have a character above 55.
Edit: I get it if I make a character on a PvP realm as my 55+ is on a PvE realm, that’s very odd. I don’t think it’s working right, I cannot make a DK on any realm I don’t have a level 55+ on.

To clarify further: This was the first and only DK I have created. Would make sense if one could remake their first one without the level 55 restriction if it were deleted
Did you delete a character above 55 in between deleting the first one and making the second one? I have made and deleted a DK then made another on a realm I have a 55+ on.

Not deleted anything inbetween. My point is simply: Blizzard allowed one (1) DK to be created on a non-fresh realm without the prerequisite of having a level 55 character on the server. I created mine on Firemaw to quickly level and play with some friends of mine, but since I wasn’t satisifed with the race selection, I deleted the char and attempted to re-create it, but got blocked by the existing char requirement message.
I’m simply requesting whatever flag might stop the first DK creation to be reset if you have no other DK.

Once the Wrath of the Lich King Classic pre-expansion update arrives, you’ll be able to create and level Death Knight characters. Here’s how it works:
- Your first Death Knight created in any realm is free of restrictions (except for fresh start realms that will open with the pre-expansion patch).
- Any Death Knights created after your first one must be on a different realm, and require an existing level 55 character on the same realm.
- You may only have one Death Knight per realm.
Looks like you can make one then the second needs a level 55, I think it counts deleted ones as the first one.
Nvm, I had apparently made a DK on another char inbetween, and forgot, the realm was unavailable when I made this topic so couldn’t check. Deleting it made me able to make a new DK without the restriction. My bad, I’m dumb
