WotLK Classic is so dead

… I actually end up with some of the same players when doing my RDF FoS daily, several days in a row.

Keep 'em coming!

Edit: Just as I wrote this thread, I just saw another one of my old guilds just disbanding their WotLK iteration, to instead focus on SoD. That’s 3 of my former raid teams gone in a month. Good lord, have mercy on this game.

I don’t think the total playerbase of WOTLK plus SOD is actually less, than a couple months back.
Blizz is just not releasing content at a fast enough pace atm imo. The release of DS should have been about 3 weeks back and then only last 3 months till CATA, or so.

But they must have judged the dropoff of players will not be very high, and to keep happy with SOD.

Probably true! It’s not about what is good or more fun or so, but what makes the most money.

Still more players than SoD, Era or Hardcore. The game is on the very end of the expansion, a lot of people are just raidlogging. It happened in late Classic, it happened yet again with Sunwell. WotLK/Cataclysm will be just fine and the main Classic game for the foreseeable future.

I honestly don’t think so. Raid team after raid team is literally disbanding left and right. And it seems people are just calling it quits and leave for real. Be it quitting altogether, SoD or private servers.

Looking at the communities I (was) a part of, it’s very clear SoD is the main game now. Everything is SoD. The ICC signup channel is even removed.

there is ton of hc icc pugs and guild runs going.

same like gammas .

far from dead not alive night time but still cen still make decent raid group lucky

I played in the same guild since start of TBCC with that kind of volatility no wonder your previous guild disbanded as they seem to attract guild skippers like you.

You probably shouldn’t speak about things you have no clue about either. I stayed in the guilds for a substantial amount of time, and would have stayed longer if I could. It’s not like I guild swapped for personal enjoyment. Each time you do, you have to start blank and prove yourself again from scratch. So it’s not a decision I make lightly.

But if you really need to know. I was forced to quit one team in 60 Naxx because of new real life commitments, which meant I could no longer make that specific guilds raid hours. And the other two guilds just ceased to exist. Like what do you want me to do, quit my job and travel around Europe, holding my fellow raiders at gun point, brute forcing them to keep raiding? Someone needs a reality check.

A lot of things can happen in a span of 4-5 years, you know. If you and your entire raid rosters lives looks exactly the same in 2024 as in 2019, good on you. But that will not be the general consensus for everyone, far from it.

Ironforge pro sayin different things, on SOD like 2x more logs then on wotlk atm

You mean 2 time more players mentioned in logs or 2 times more encounters? If latter keep in mind that BFD is 10ppl raids on 3 day reset.

WOTLK is not dead you are not doing it right lol.
People will say some wild s***.

I said game is dead 2-3 months ago and made a post asking for server merging.
You get all kinds of stupid answers that are far from the truth (either blizzard employee or somebody who profits from wow will say the opposite in a lenghty post that is based on bs pulled from their a** making it sound like they have a point (like a YoutTube comment degree for bs). I was active on many servers and was able to judge how dead the game was accurately since I was making raids myself. Nobody gave a f***. Fast forward 2 months you see multiple posts saying what I said.)

The game is dead for a long time.
Server merging won’t happen. Anything to make the game more fun won’t happen either.

It’s

iPhone 8 (Wotlk patch) > money
iPhone 9 (SoD, which turns out to be s*** content too, since there is nothing to do after clearing a recycled raid that didn’t require any designing) > money
iPhone 10 (Wotlk patch) > money
iPhone 11 (SoD patch) > money
iPhone X² (Cataclysm) > money

They don’t care for good content they care about keeping you engaged.
And you know you want all the iPhones. Sheep go baaae.

Consider that SOD’s raid can be done in 20 minutes and has a 3 day lockout, and only needs a green geared lv.25 vs a epic geared lv.80.

My old guild which was revived on SOD is hosting 8 BFD runs a week, which WOTLK guild, even a very active one, is clearing 8x ICC per week?

Wrath classic has had the misfortune of being contemporary with tons of classic content.
During vanilla classic, if you played wow, but didn’t like retail, you could play classic.
During TBC classic, if you played wow, but didn’t like retail, you could play tbc or era.
Right now, if you play wow but don’t like retail, you could pay era, hc, sod or wrath, i.e. the playerbase is waaaaay more split, due to having more options.
Despite that, wrath is FAR from dead. On ironforge.pro, there are 190+ thousand active raiders, not to mention people who don’t raid at all, or simply didn’t do their reset the last recorded ID (#65). Classic SOD in contrast, has 374 thousand active raiders. Once the hype dies down, I expect the numbers to get closer to one another, so wrath is roughly half the size of SOD, despite being in its last phase, while SOD is brand new.
People go on and on saying how much sod is popping, which is true. However, if SOD is huge, then wrath (being half its size), can’t by any means be considered dead. Maybe if it had 1/20 of SOD’s playerbase, instead of half, I’d consider it so.

And this also includes alts etc (active raiders != individual people).
Like 70-80% of those players are raid-logging, the overall world is empty (bots are still out there farming instead of players), dungeons are dead, pvp is a clownfest.
So i’d say its “dead” and a cata waiting room atm.

Again alts, its not that hard to reach lvl 25 in a day (or get boosted in wc), + to run a 30-40min raid on multiple characters every 3 days (if.pro reports its weekly basis which is 2 reset * x character)

SoD might be hyped up at the moment, but it feels like a gimmicky waitroom, until the next retail/cata comes.
And it’s messed up already (2 month) as the economy is ruined by botters/rmt wallet tryhards. Some players are running with thousands of golds on lvl 25 kekw.

If you have raid teamd that are fully geared and completed the entire raid on heroic to the poin of quitting then /Slowclap good for you.

I personally have had the same Soft reserves for 9 weeks straight without any drop luck…

We won’t be quitting this any time soon

and even if it does drop there is like 6 peopel with 3 rerolls rolling on those last bis pieces /( aka hc saurfang-rotface-syndra trinkets )

so gl rolling 100 because its only way to get stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

Around 250k active raiders at the very end of the expansion with all content released is pretty good IMO. Much better landscape than late Vanilla or late TBC.
