I can’t remember too much about these two, since I didn’t play them overly much. I will pick one to main this time around, so I’d like to know which one is more viable in all aspects of endgame.
And also, will there be more priests than warlocks?
I seem to recall warlocks being somewhat underrepresented in private servers.
Locks, especially destro, become incredibly fun to play in WotLK. Especially in PvP, destro is explosive and versatile. Personally I’d say warlock, as someone with a tonne of experience with both.
If you are trying to play effectively and guarantee spots in both pve and pvp, play the Warlock.
Affliction Warlocks are absurdly Powerful in PVP and destruction is very good in pve as i remember.
Shadow Priests are a “bring exactly 1 a raid” sorta commodity, because all their buffs are raid-wide. You’ll essentially be forced into disci healing at some point.
In pvp shadow is good afair. Can’t say too much. I remember plenty warlocks metling my face but only some spriests.
Warlock is amazing at both PvE amd PvP. Spriest is ok at both, with a caveat that you take 1 per raid, and up to 5 locks, but 3 minimum. No such thing as a lock without a raid spot, while as a spriest you will get “can you go PI healing for just one raid(read forever) pls?”
It depends on what you’re trying to accomplish, you have to be more specific. Personably, I’d go Warlock just because you have the option to DPS and be Warlock Tank even if you just decide to tank dungeons.
Both classes are absolutely amazing in WotLK. Shadow Priests really shone in this expansion (I was one myself) but so do Warlocks.
You can’t go wrong with either.
So far, so good then!
I’m looking for the class out of these two that is “easier” to do well on in both PvE and PvP. Basically, what is less maintenance, if that makes sense, since I don’t have overly much time to play anymore.
I can add that I don’t mind healing every now and again, since discipline priests seem interesting. I remember them being very strong, too. Especially in PvP.
Bear in mind that WotLK brings dual spec, allowing you to have both a healer and a damage dealer on the same character, so if you’re wanting to roll in that direction then a Priest is definitely the way to go. Of course you can also do some emergency off-healing as Shadow at a pinch but you’ll never be very efficient at it. Obviously Warlocks bring no healing whatsoever to the group, but they have a bunch of other important utilities at their disposal.
Both Shadow Priests and Warlocks are also very, very viable for PvP. Both are rightly treated with considerable fear and respect by the opposing faction, and both have their various pros and cons, but which is ‘better’ largely comes down to personal choice, though others may disagree.
Running ICC back in the day myself and our other Shadow Priest were regularly among the top four damage dealers at the time. The Haste stat begins to play an increasingly large role within the game, and Haste works absolute wonders on DOT classes. There was never a better time to be a Shadow Priest in my opinion, though once again, Warlocks also did amazingly well.
In WotLK warlocks are very powerful but this is ofcourse how you perceive stuff as well.
As an SP you have a lot of power in BG, by being able to shield and dispell teammates- I believe it to be currently stronger than any from of warlock. But this does not show on any ‘pwnage meter’ so yeah what do you want.
