I’ve done today the dk campaign for the mount and I forgot how the old nameplate were very visible and tune good compared to what we got now.
I allways got trouble to see stuff as I use them in big and can’t target the right stuff I want in time (especially in pvp).
Anyone know if there is a way to get them back but for retail?
Ummm not entirely sure what you are asking, but you can bring up name plates with v or control + V , I think. Alternatively, you can get an addon called plater, that does pretty nice plates.
I mean I’d like to get old nameplate back instead of the current retail one =D
I don’t think that’s possible or allowed so your best bet are addons like the other poster mentioned.
I know that some people pointed out they would like to see changes to the nameplates in the new UI for DF exactly because of visibility issues so I am hoping they get tweaked as I love the idea of ditching a bunch of addons. Specifically, the nameplate addons often cause errors.
Neatplates has that exact nameplate visual. You’ll have to choose one of the pre-setup plates.

Use Elvui - it has also good name plates
I too have trouble seeing stuff so I use Treatplates addon. I find it very handy for seeing mobs.
I also use Storyline addon to make reading quests easier.
GTFO is good for those hard to see dark purple swirlies on a dark floor.
