If anyone can help me find out what time the servers are expected to release, I’d really appreciate it [in the process of booking some time off work so that I can nerd it out a bit!].

They should release when the prepatch does.
How many and details such as that is, as far as I know, unknown at this point in time.

They will be there when the realms come back online after the maintenance on 31st. Probably, if there are no problems.

Dow we know how many servers there will be ? I recon they all will be rather popular but it’s a little unfortunate if you pick the one that almost nobody picks 
No one knows, except Blizzard and they aren’t telling.
I would be also interested how many fresh servers will be available and which type …
Should aim for 3 servers
1 - PvE Alliance
2 - PvE Horde
3 - PvP both
Why make PvE servers faction specific? That’s normally how the PvP servers work. Most (all?) PvE servers are 2:3 favouring Allies.
But 2 PvE servers and 1 PvP would be just fine 
1 PvP and 1 PvE would be more than enough, and perhaps even one to much. But I’m guessing they wont force PvErs to play on a PvP and viceversa (lets hope), so we’ll most likely get 2.

Hm, I am in two mind. We have Low-pop PvP servers, but no Low-pop PvE servers, so two of the latter to get up to around the same status as the PvP servers would be good. On the other hand, if all Freshies flock to one server only, two is one too many … Let’s jut wait and see

I wouldn’t touch Fresh without PvP servers, can only speak for myself. No matter how monofaction they might become, I dont ever want to feel that I cant get killed while questing etc.
Even if its just the first week, Im hoping to see some clashes while leveling, or atleast have the possibility of them.
I was running around on a “empty” Mograine some days ago and from nowhere comes a Frostbolt, slowing me down. The thrill when the blood starts pumping and you dont know who the opponent(s) is and where is the reason Ive never played on anything but PvP.
Even if its 1 time/year, I like knowing Im not ever 100% safe.

I’m your opposite number there. I always get killed, and think corpse runs an utter waste of time. No PvE means me not playing.
But I never argued for no fresh PvP servers - as long as I do not have to go there 
1 PvP and 2 PvE would be fine.
