There wont be more tanks than it is now.
And there is no reason to use anything but Feral and DK as tanks in raids.
Tank shortage will always be a thing OK dual spec will help but mist go for pve pvp spec

There’s always going to be a tank shortage.
Why?
There’s way more dps/healer spots in raids than tank spots.
So people are going to be gearing towards DPS/Healer rather than tanking.
Just look at retail for example.

There is tank shortage on retail as well but it’s not even near TBCC level of tank shortage. You can’t fix it cause as you said there will always be more dps than tanks, but you can reduce it. Don’t expect all solutions to solve problems completely, there is no such thing.

healer and tank roles have always attracted both the worst players and the worst personalities and the game has consequently been balanced around that

Nope. It attracts people that have an urge to control stuff. Vast majority are just the typical you pull it you tank it type of people with zero interest in actually learning the game

There’s only really a tank shortage due to the fact that people don’t need anything from dungeons anymore.
It’ll be the same in WOTLK as well.

Tanks prefer tanking with their guilds/friends rather than PUGs.
If you cant controll your threat when the tank asks you to then you tank it if the tank dont ask you to hold back then dont thats how I roll atleast, and I only ask you to hold back if you are ether attacking the wrong targets or if im undergeared on a alt or something
doesnt matter how u play personally but a large amount of tanks dont even press taunt or use crowd control because it hurts their ego
LOL, and what kind of players are attracted to dps role? People who are desperate to feel somehow worthwhile with numbers displayed on 3rd party website? People who can’t hold themselves with aggro in case of fear of being laughed at because you weren’t 1st in dps? People who build their whole system of value upon parses and feel like it makes them better than everybody else? Or just toxic people
“Large amount” xD seems like you are that one dps who spams tanks with “inv lock destro geared will carry” and then before tank even use first ability they spam SoC ^^

im not saying dps are amazing somehow but in terms of percentiles it is way better. basically anyone within the bottom 95% is utter garbage and you would assume they are playing the game without a keyboard. The skill distribution is just awful for healers/tanks compared to DPS

not in TBC, parses in TBC = best party comp + gear, nothing else
