i know that for 3.3.x some pve gear is bis for pvp and kinda needed to compete.
is pvp gear before the icecrwon patch bis or do one have to pve there as well?
You can get by with mostly PVP gear.
Most Classes get PVE trinkets though as they are BiS pretty much every season and things like some off pieces with lots of sockets.
Raid and get Deathbringer’s will as a melee.

I guess it rather depends on class for example i believe as mage you need a lot of haste = pve. But overall i would say in most cases you kinda need to get atleast trinket (for example solace or that 4th toc boss trinket for melees in rele season) + maybe pve ring.
Unfortunately i guess block value will be nerfed but personally i would love to play full block value prot warr which used almost only pve.

As a healer you can play full pvp gear until pdk where you only need solace.
some hybrid specs need solance and bauble to really shine in later patches.
rogues want pve gear before icc too.
caster and healer mostly need trinkets and a ring and have full pvp gear on every other part

Join a wrath private server to test buddy, a lot of people run less resil cause the PvE gear just gives so much more stat wise. Take weaps for example 284 as opposed to 277 elite pvp. PvE Trinkets are also huge. Although most other pieces of gear you’ll want PvP.
i probably rather play retail then.
dont rly want to invest so much time in pve and depending on drops and stuff.
but lets see maybe i cant resist when it comes out.

As a DK you can run full PVP gear. Only thing you need is Bryntroll in S8 and maybe Deaths Verdict* in S7.
It’s been a long time but I believe DK used to be a kill target so full resi is decent.
