Would love to try RP (a bit scared tho). Please help

Hello!
I have wanted to try RP for a long time, but never gathered enough courage to do so… Idea always seemed so exciting, but I would always get stuck on my character back story and get discouraged…

So here I am. Wanting to role play a Death Knight. I have created a character, explored TRP3 addon and was ready to go. But then I did some research and apparently DK is one of harder classes to role play. Especially after Ebon Blade going bananas in Legion. I would love to stick with it tho. I love the lore of DK and I would prefer role playing a class I love for lore reasons. Do you guys think its a good idea? Or should I start on an easy class/race combination to begin with?

The story I was thinking for this Death Knight is a bit bonkers, I must admit. It seemed so cool at the beginning hah!
Long story short. Sinr comes from tradesmen family and was training to become an engineer. Both of his parents got killed in Zuldazar during the last attack. Sinr decides he wants to fight instead of being a tradesman. Being a teenager not yet of age to wield an axe and knowing that he would have to train for years to become more skilled and stronger he decides to set of on a quest to to find a warlock who would infuse him with fell magic to make him older and stronger (like what Guldan did). He easily succeeds in Undercity. He becomes older and stronger, goes back to Ogrimar ready to fight (learn to fight). Upon discovering the ritual that has been performed he gets turn away from military. He gets cast out from Orgrimar. With no options left he sets out to find the knights of the Ebon Blade in hopes they would train him in the ways of the war. He finds them, but he has to be turned into the undead Death Knight. He agrees and here we are. Fresh Death Knight, still learning to skills of combat and ready to fight.

Coming from a non RP player, I liked the backstory.
Screw those who might discourage it. It’s your backstory, and nobody else can decide what it is.

It is like, nobody can decide my real life backstory, no matter how cheesy it might be.

You could always change it if you feel like it.
I change my story from time to time I believe everyone does. Nobody understands lore in 100% and a lot of people have some holes in the story including myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is very encouraging as a lot of things I have read was that in the lines of “nobody likes you if your story dont fit lore 100%”.

I must admit I haven’t quested through the entire Legion DK campaign, so I’m not fully informed of all the mischief the Ebon Blade has been up to…

I think I read/heard somewhere that they raised more DK’s, in which case your story makes pretty good sense as far as I can see.

I am very uninformed about how the Horde feels about warlock artificial ageing. I imagine the Frostwolves vehemently opposing it, and I suppose the post-2nd-war Horde shares the old ideals of Thrall’s clan.

(I’m sure Sylvanas personally is a big fan of warlock artificial ageing, though; she seems to like bad things and to dislike good ones…)

Yes, the reason that horde does not like the Gul’dan tactics my character would turn to Ebon Blade. All this whilst retaining hope to regain Hordes trust and spill a lot of alliance blood.
