Would you like this many race choices in game?

Would be amazing to see so much more variation no?

No. They can’t even keep the story updated for their existing races and allied races. No need to add more stuff they can forget to the mix.

Each race would need its own leader so they would have to build a reliable storyline in future expansion taking care of that. As of now we haven’t seen even the night borne leader, the zandalari troll leader or the mechagnome leader after their own stunt in the past. Imagine that, multiplied by all so many other races… Not a good look, story wide, lore wise and even gameplay wise.

No. Its a horrible idea.

Its like going to the supermarket to buy shampoo. There are so many options that seem different in the package, but you can only iterate on the “shampoo” formula so much.

So in the end, they are all the same and it makes no difference. Its an illusion of choice.

That is we are now. We got 3 dwarf races, 2 orc races, 3 human races, 4 elfs… Illusion of choice. A waste of our time.

If you double down on that is even worse.

We already have way too many races and classes. IMO it’s better to have less but with distinct characteristics instead of this gradient/smoothie.

The problem I have with the current situation, and that, is that your race doesn’t really mean anything. They fail to tell decent origin stories, no NPC’s react to your race, and your racials are pretty much useless except in a few cases in PvP.

I think they added too many races. They could create the models, sure, but they couldn’t give them a compelling story.

With the current system, maybe they have a chance to correct this. But with even more? I don’t even know what they’ll do.

Absolutely no. As others already pointed out Blizzard fails to give lore coverage to the most existing races.

We do not need new races, we need some good lore / racial quests to revitalize current races.

Just look at Void Elves, the current expansion is all about Void yet Void Elves got next to zero development.

The only cool new races are the ones with unique character models, like a Tuskarr or a Ogre.
Dwarves, elves, taurens and orcs, by any other name, are still dwarves, elves, taurens and orcs. Lorewise it may be another race, but as far as character creation goes, a lot of them could have just as easily been nothing more than skin or eye color options. Its a RPG, let people roleplay their subrace, instead of flooding the game with allied races.

True.

Although this is not a reason to not have more races, it’s a reason for them to deploy more resources to Story Telling.

The only expansion in the previous five expansions that had reasonably good story telling was Legion.
TWW is yet to be determined. So far they seem to be doing better on story tellng than the last few expansions.

Not really, the existing races hardly get any attention as is
I would rather see the existing player races get more lore and attention in the story then get more races whose lore will never be touched again.

Both Dracthyr and Earthen are a great example;

  • Dractyr got less lore in their debut expansion then night elves did.
  • The earthen do not even have a representative group in either factions like Dracthyr and Pandarans do, they’re just being accepted without any leadership framework for them to report under being present.

This and in the case of some races, they should’ve just made them into skins. Like the lightforged dreanei, the only story they really only got was in Legion.

So instead of splitting, should’ve merged them with regular dreanei and just had like a subspecies option when creating the character. Granted for this to work more seamlessly you’d have to update the starting experience as Exodar should be fixed now and they’re mingling together.

There’s a very good starting zone to be had on Argus. Could’ve just been the quest line we had, told from the opposite perspective. It doesn’t even need to be that long.

The whole having to unlock character customisation or race with your main is so, so weird.

I would always end up playing human so, I don’t care that much. It would be fun to see for sure.

We have too many already imo

I would yes. I don’t see a down side to having more customisation choice.

I would like to have a Tinker class. Private servers have it. Blizzard not really giving it a go. :man_shrugging:
