Would you recommend WoW Classic Vanilla to a new person?

Me and my girlfriend are thinking to take a chance with Vanilla WoW, to get to do as many quests as possible and level up and do the raids in the difficulty they were intended to be played. Are the servers still active so we could give it a chance, or that ship has way passed ?

While I do have a couple of characters in Classic realms, I don’t play seriously there, so I’m advising from my reading rather than from personal experience.

In general, I would say that TBC is still alive, but Classic has died down a lot. Further. Classic Wrath is on the horizon, so levelling in TBC may have value for that.

Here is the best guide to population I know:
https://ironforge.pro/population/tbc/

Note this is the population from RAIDING LOGS, so obviously there are many more people than that, but it should give a relative view.

I would read the TBC forum https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/wow-classic/burning-crusade-classic-discussion/288 and also check out the forums for the individual realms you are looking to roll on.

The realms are almost empty even though they are connected, unless you have gold to buy a run or find something very, very rare, a guild with an open raiding slot you probably won’t be able to raid.

I am talking about 1-60 Classic Era permanent realms not the seasonal ones or TBC 1-70 realms.

classic is pretty much dead ,you can either buy a boost but dont know how the game works or get ready to spend months killing mobs alone in the forest xD
