Wound Poison?

So I moused over Wound Poison and noticed that the description said it only did 415 damage with my current gear.

I might be a bit of an idiot, but has it always been that low compared to Deadly? I think I remember it being higher in earlier patches, but could be I simply remember wrong.
(Or simply the info on the spell is wrong, could also be )

The power of wound poison doesn’t come from it’s damage but from the mortal wounds effect. Reduces the healing your target recieves by 25% (30% if you talent into master poisoner)
