Wow 10.0 system requirements

I am able to play (even raid ) on a 5+ years old laptop. Will I be able to play it on 10.0?

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight System Requirements

Below are the minimum and recommended system specifications for World of Warcraft® and the Dragonflight® expansion on Windows® and Mac®. Due to potential programming changes, the minimum system requirements for World of Warcraft may change over time.

Note: For a list of compatible video hardware, see our Supported Video Cards list.

Windows

Mac

*World of Warcraft will attempt to run on hardware below minimum specifications, including HDDs, DirectX11, and older CPUs and integrated GPUs. However, the game experience may be significantly diminished.

Note: Due to potential changes, the System Requirements for this game may change over time.

Thats quite a huge range . 5+ years on high end machine ? No problem . 5+ years on some low end office machine with integrated gpu? Probably not much fun to play on that

Don’t expect to be able to play World of Warcraft on potatoes just because you can run solitaire on it. If you absolutely need to play on a laptop, you should get one with Ryzen 5/7 and discrete graphics.

Hey there!
Would you be so kind as to send the specifications of your machine?
If you don’t know anything about computer specs, please press the windows button and type “dxdiag”. A prompt may appear asking to verify your driver signatures. This prompt isn’t that important, so you can decide if you want to click “yes” or “no”. In the following page, you’ll see a lot of information. Look after the following information:

In page 1, also known as “System”:

  • Processor
  • Memory

In page 2, also known as “Display”:

  • Name

Please share this information with us. Otherwise it’s very difficult to know if your machine will be capable of running the game, as computer specifications vary a lot!

The “System” page also shows the operating system, but you’re probably already running Windows 10, though you may be ineligible for Windows 11.

Keep in mind that an SSD is recommended for WoW, especially in the upcoming expansion, where the new mounts can fly at 900%+ speed in the alpha. If you’re not sure if you’re running the game on a HDD or an SSD, you may go into file explorer → this pc → right click on the drive the game is installed on → properties → hardware and then look up the name. If you don’t know where WoW is located, press the Windows button → right click on World of warcraft → open file location → right click the World of Warcraft in the file explorer → open file location, and look at what disk (C, D… E, etc.) That the explorer URL bar is saying.

If you can play Shadowlands on medium/high settings, you’ll be able to do the same in 10.0

The biggest change to system requirements in recent memory is recommending running the game from an SSD, which looks like will be more vital in 10.0 with the flying speeds we can get in that expansion.

Don’t preorder the expansion and once the 10.0 PTR is up, you can test the performance there if you’re worried.

I already did preorder. I ordered a new laptop but the delivery time is still unknown. I hope I will get the new laptop before end of year! I am running wow on minimal settings on M+ and heroic raid

That should be fine, honestly. That is a 10th generation 4 core /8 thread CPU. You can see that it’s at 2.5GHz at base speed, which is well above the Haswell requirement, which is only 4 cores at 3.0GHz with no mention of additional threads. While the frequency is slower on your CPU, Haswell is slower at the same frequency as 10th gen, and the additional threads on your CPU will probably allow for better performance, seeing as WoW does seem to scale well with additional cores as well as hyper-threading. You might experience some stutter and some lag in big cities or big raids, but I doubt it’s going to be too bad! I don’t know how much the CPU is affected by the faster mounts, but that will probably be optimized towards the game’s launch.

I hope you get your new lappy before Christmas!

PS: Addons like threatplates and some weakauras can be a HUGE hit to performance. I don’t know if you’re using addons at all, but it’s something to look into.

But there’s nothing in Dragonflight I’ve seen so far that will lead me to believe it’ll be heavier than Shadowlands.

I reckon RAM and VRAM usage will increase thanks to increased LOD. Outside of that, perhaps the new mount speeds will affect the CPU more. SSD will probably be the most affected thing, though. I assume HDD users will probably experience a lot more stutter at high mount speeds.

That’s what it said in shadowlands too but they changed it for min requirements to require a quick hdd, yet if i play without addons my loading screens are really fast, so that’s not a worry either. It might only be an issue with dragonriding but again, the only issues that’ll cause is loading textures and such

That’s an issue of optimization. After all, The Witcher 3 and RDR2 have infinite draw distance and run on a machine that has 5GB combined RAM and VRAM. They said they made engine upgrades to accommodate the increased draw distance, so I doubt the system requirements will go up. In fact, they may even go down.

We’ll see.

It certainly is all about optimization! It really depends on how they’ve upgraded the engine as a whole, I suppose.

Fascinating information about those other games. I can’t seem to recall anything about infinite draw distance, but perhaps they do deal with static objects really well. I’ll have to take a look at that, but I suppose that’s off topic for these forums! Thanks for that tidbit!

What this game will do with an M1 Max ? It’s kinda overkill unless they give me some cinematic level graphics in game.

I hope you get your new machine soon!

If you’re running the current game at the lowest settings right now, the current machine might still run the game with the new expansion, but it really depends on how optimization is done here. New features can make old hardware run the same gams slower, or it might not affect you negatively at all! That being said, if the next machine doesn’t arrive by 10.0’s release and the game runs worse than it does now, you may use the resolution scale slider, or just change the resolution if it’s graphically bound!

I’m sure there’s going to be a beta or PTR later this year, so perhaps you can test it then!

My rig is a little below the min reqs but I’ll try it with the settings lowish and see how it works. If it isn’t good then I’ll look at an upgrade early next year.
I have an SSD, 16gbs RAM so hoping it will be playable. I don’t need funcy graphics.
