I just don’t think Blizz has the mental ability/capacity to go in that direction.
I hope they do though. Microshaft might do something unexpected

the only thing they did to minecraft was minecoins…
i wouldnt expect positive changes.
says it all when ybarra the former head xbox guy is a scummy gambler booster man.
logic meets expectations in reality…
and the future looks bleak.
Nobody is even thinking about this, except ppl that sees these amazing aninations posted on youtube, since it would burn your PC alive…which in some cases wow does anyway even without UE.
Not strictly true with Quake. Quake jumped from multiplayer driven to continuing the canon that was left off in Quake 2, the reason Quake 4 didnt do as well was because the players were expecting more of a multiplayer driven game. They got a story driven game and put a lot of them off.
I knew it was this song even before clicking the link. Man, I’m getting old.
I actually preferred Q4 over Q3. And thanks to you, now I feel the urge to give Q2 and Q4 a go.
With the lights on of course.
But,isnt tbc wow 2?
I think you’re gravely mistaken about some things.
First, many people underestimate the amount of people that are currently not playing the game but have played it in the past, many of which will probably be drawn to a " new " WoW experience.
Secondly, a WoW 2 isn’t necessarily the death of WoW 1, they can run together hand in hand, in that aspect WoW 2 does not have to rebuild everything in WoW 1, it could simply be a prequel or a sequel or even in an alternative timeline, this way both WoW 1 and WoW 2 can run on their own pace separate of eachother.
Think of it like vanilla WoW and retail WoW, WoW 2 could simply be a " different " kind doing its own thing.
3- This type of thing is not alien, as many series have both old and new versions run concurrently, for example diablo 2 and diablo 3, WoW and Warcraft and you can find it in other gaming companies too.
Not long ago, people thought that vanilla WoW was impossible to make, yet it happened, people called for WoWs doom ever since vanilla yet its still running now, so I doubt thinking, wanting or hoping for a WoW 2 is a far fetched idea, especially now that Microsoft has obtained blizzard, they probably have some grand plans for it, perhaps… WoW 2?

You clearly seem to be underestimating the time, costs etc of developing a brand new engine from the ground up. The game struggles to get content out at a reasonable pace as is so I don’t think making a whole new engine is something Blizzard is capable of.

again, refer to my first point regarding the pace of content output in the current game. Vanilla is completely different as it was ctrl c ctrl v kind of situation (although it is simplifying it you get my point). Developing not only a brand new engine but then content for that engine while upkeeping the current game is impossible for Blizzard. Also it would split up the playerbase and would 150% require you to pay 2 subscriptions. Don’t even mention vanilla and retail having 1 sub, the circumstances would be completely different.

You can’t really compare games like diablo to WoW. The scale difference is immense gameplay and development -wise.

I doubt anybody actually believed Vanilla was impossible to make. There were plenty of private servers running, if Blizz wanted it they would’ve made it earlier. Why they didn’t is up to them.
There are people who believe the Earth is flat. They’re pretty much the same level of intelligence with those who called Vanilla the end of Retail.

Yeah, It’s called gamepass.
