I will just copy paste my support ticket:
I decided to buy WoW Shadowlands and resume playing with my old characters.
What i didn’t know, nor it was anywhere indicated is that WoW 2 and WoW 3 are separated meaning that i am unable to resume playing
Shadowlands with my old characters.
That being said i bought 30 days game time on WoW 3 since it was the only one with (Shadowlands) text.
Why is wow 2 and wow 3 separated and what is even the point ?
Also why is there no warning or indicators for RETURNING players that it’s all separated.
No other game has that, so i would like to ask for your understanding and helping me merge/transfer or do something so i can play Shadowlands with my old characters.
I got a response saying they can’t do anything…
After that i replied with:
So i have to pay extra because the battle net launcher doesn’t provide the required information to the players ?
And why is it stated that i have 2 accounts ? I have one account but server are divided for some reason and my old characters are locked out of Shadowlands because of that.
If i bought all the expansions and even the new one i should be able to play with my old characters right ?
It’s not like the Shadowlands is a brand new title, separated from the WoW.
It just doesn’t make any sense. My subscription and DLC i bought are now going to waste.
Why are we forced to play from 0 if we have already spent money and time on the same game ?
I would understand if Shadowlands was a whole new title, but its DLC. And even if it is, it is badly explained and pointed out that the WoW 2 and WoW 3 are separated.
I am using the same account, same email after all.
You can have up to 8 Warcraft accounts in your Blizzard account and you have added gametime and the expansion to the wrong account. It depends on how long ago you added the expansion as to whether they can move or refund it.
I assume your normal characters are on WoW2, in the past Blizzard sold something called the complete collection, which made a new account, that or you made a new account yourself and updated it by mistake.
They are not separated by Blizzard, somehow you have done this. You can log into an account with no gametime to check which one you should have added gametime and the expansion to if it was recently added.
The problem is that WoW 2 where my main characters are dont show Shadowlands for some reason.( Probably because when i redeemed my code the launcher automatically set my account to WoW3 as default )
- But why would i even want to redeem and renew my game time on the account i never used before ?
This is what bothers me so much.
And i bought the game by redeeming the code. If what you say is true, then game should automatically assign the purchase to my other account, the new accounts should not be set as default since i didnt touch it.
On WoW 3 i only have 1 new character that i made after purchasing DLC and game time.
I would understand if that happened after i created new character and “new account”, but i didn’t.
They provided 0 warning 0 explanations for this so it their fault.
How are we supposed to know after coming back to WoW after about 2 years ?
Is it possible to move my DLC and game time to wow 2 ?
Expansions only apply to one wow account, not the whole battle.net account.
If you have inadvertantly applied it and game time to the wrong account, then you should re-open a ticket stating exactly that, that you meant it for Wow2.
Hopefully it has not been to long since you did it…

That depends on what you bought and where you bought it. If you bought a pack that includes the base game, game time for the base game and Shadowlands, that can not be redeemed on an existing account (such as the New Player Experience) and will instead create an entirely new account.
If you bought, from Blizzard, an expansion that could be applied to an existing account (such as the Shadowlands Heroic Edition), it can’t hurt to ask if you can get that moved to the other account.
If you bought this from a third party vendor I don’t think that’s an option.
As someone stated above, Blizzard did not divide your accounts or add extra accounts to your Battle.net - that happened through something you did and they alert you to this fact very prominently when you apply any upgrades on an account.

This was yesterday, i will ask them what they can do.
Thank you all for response.
I also bought the DLC from a third party ( i wont paste link since it’s probably not allowed )
But it does not say anything about New Player Experience.
Could be that they forgot to mention it and its their fault, or that it’s blizzard’s fault for setting WoW 3 as default.
Was it called the complete edition? If so then it can’t be used on an existing Warcraft account, only to make a new one. The name of the product you bought will tell us what it contained and if it can be transferred. It’s not Blizzards fault if you bought the wrong thing or didn’t look where it was applied, that includes buying a US version instead of an EU version. Which would also explain why it added a new WoW3.
They are called expansions not DLCs. there is a difference.
I would also like to say, please be nice in your ticket as it goes a long way.

And was it the EU or US version, yes it matters.
Don’t assume you bought the EU one, it’s best to go and check.

Then they should be able to move it for you, if you made a ticket within a day or two.
Just don’t log in on WoW3.
You should be able to ask in the ticket for the exact version you bought.

The only problem is that i already made 1 character on WoW 3 but i told support that they can delete it if it’s necessary.
I hope they will be kind enough.
Thank you for the replies.
When you look at the launcher is it
WoW2 (EU) and
WoW3 (EU) or
WoW3 (US)?
A US account is marked with (US) after it.

It’s just WoW 2 and WoW 3 EU, no US
I don’t see why they didn’t move it when you first asked.
I have found some versions in online shops labelled as Heroic that are actually the old Complete version. Which Blizzard don’t sell anymore.
They mention a 110 and a 120 boost.

The same was mentioned in my order also, but it doesnt really provide the boost.
At least i dont see one at character selection screen.
The 110, now 48, was account wide but the 120, now 50, is for Warcraft account bound, so it won’t show on WoW2.
If it mentioned those boosts then it was the complete version not the Heroic version. The complete version contained a months gametime, BfA (which is now free) and Shadowlands Heroic version and could only be used to make a new account and not on an old account.
I don’t think they are allowed to move the expansions and gametime to another account from the complete edition.

So it was the third party seller’s fault for not providing correct and additional information.
And i blamed Blizzard…
I completely understand why you did blame blizzard. I would contact the seller and see what can be done, keep your ticket open though, just in case.
