I’m not speaking astrophysics: WoW players always hated WoW. In recent expansions they’re going a bit harder because of conduit energy and because Blizzard went on a rampage of abysmal PR, but that’s it. Dragonflight’s low user score proves absolutely nothing: we always hated our favourite game, now it’s a bit cooler to do so.
The game friggin got 7.7 when it was the “best MMORPG ever” ffs.
XIV players are a coven of absolute cultists, Yoshi-P could take a dump down their throats and they would rush to write a positive review in the form of a poem in hendecasyllables. If XIV was judged by WoW standards it would get obliterated. And XIV is one of my favourite videogames ever, so it’s not like I’m biased or anything.
It might be somewhat legit to compare the expansions like this, but keep in mind that this is not a rating of them all today (only), right? When did the record start?
Is it not a mix of perceptions over a long span of time?
Things probably become a bit more interesting if we add perceptions of the old-expac Classic versions to it.
I greatly prefer people with character over people with identity.
What a pathetic way of thinking. If the game is not good, there will be less revenues, less players …worst expansions ( like the last 3 we had ) etc. Sure, you may like it, but if is not decent for the majority, then there will be problems.
Yes it seems you need somebody to tell you if a game is good or not that is a poor way of playing and those votes and site means nothing at all , bit like you really.
Okay chiming in here, Metacritic is a terrible website and is often used for review bombing, who remembers the last of us part 2? That’s just one example, any game that has " woke " attached to it is often review bombed, Blizzard has two things working against it.
It’s seen as woke by many people and Bobby Kotick/Activision is associated, you ain’t winning in the court of public opinion with that attached to you, you would make the best game in the world, not that DF is and people would still crap all over you.
There’s a reason why XIV has rising sub counts and wow is losing ya know.
Do take that into account.
I dont understand this ‘reasoning’ of ‘cultists this cultist what’. It doesnt make sence at all. Find a real reason. XIV is just a good game and actually puts out fantastic expansions, content, modes, you name it.
Alot more then quest content, dungeans, raids, trials and other features.
Wow just has M+, 3 Raids (at this point per expansion) and pvp thats rotated in and out.
We arnt even sure if wow will ever have more then 3 raids anymore if you look at the decline content wise when it comes to raiding anymore. Its similair to destiny when you compare the original years
In fact i consider this raise (of FF) a good thing. without any competition there’s no hope to have a better game. Maybe the effort (i consider DF a good exp but i know not everyone has the same opinion) brought blizz to reconsider its policy and try to build finally a better game with less lazy content.
Funny. What you see on this forum not even a .0001% thats negative.
Also, its something to take into account: People are alot more likely to post something negative then something positive. So explain that, somehow FFXIV user scores hit the 90’s?
