This is pretty common Microsoft practice. I play AoE II Definite Edition and it’s available both on PC and XBOX. Is it made so it’s easy on consoles? Not at all. You can play it on pad but you are matched with people playing with keyboard and mouse so you have a disadvantage. What it might mean though that WoW might be a part of XBOX pass. What means new players - most of them will probably PvE and just goof around the world but some might try BGs. There is a chance they get hooked into PvP. I’m optimistic about it.
Game being available to people with Xbox is great news - more players in a MMO means healtier game.
Gameplay being changed to be able accommodate a controller would be a disaster. Either the attempt would fail hard, or it would destroy the game as we know it.
Well u still need to play with keyboard and mouse. U cant play it with xbox controller. U can play wow trough the new xbox but it is not that u can use the xbox controller to play it.
I don’t believe that the changes in Midnight are aimed for for being able to play on game pad. We asked for years to gut some addons. Also the fact that rotations are simlified isn’t a bad thing. For last few expansions dealing damage is the most important learning curve and it makes other arena aspects suffer like positioning, gameplan etc. They are still important but not as much as damage is the king now.
I believe these changes are actually for better. In many cases it will be back to “Legion” kinda in at least in terms of gameplay. Some classes will be even a bit simplier but most will have similar gameplay.
Also while playing on game pad probably will be possible I don’t think that Microsoft will do everything to make it even for both platforms. AoE II DE is the best example. You can play on it on your gamepad however you are highly disadvantaged when playing against someone who plays on PC. It’s your choice that you cannot be the top of the ladder but you can still enjoy the game.
Atm yes but its possible that they make it like in Tera was. Not sure if that game still exist, it has similar number of spells like in wow but there was an interesting system for chaining abilities and in situations where you was stunned it flashed up automaticly if you wanna trinket it to one specific button which allowed you to play it smoothly on joystick even
