WoW Cancelling out all other audio on PC

Hi Everyone,
I don’t know if I am the only person having this issue but since a recent update, when ever I would start up World of Warcraft, didn’t matter wich version, I would lose all other audio; Chrome, Netflix, Discord, … etc.

After looking around I only found a post about this on the US forums where no one knew how to fix it. So for those having this problem running on a windows 11 Home this is what fixed it for me:

Go to:
→ Settings → System → Sound
Then scroll down and click “More sound settings”
This should show you a window displaying your different playback devices.
Now you want to select your default Playback device (the one with the green mark) and click on properties → Advanced Tab

Here you want to unselect the following things:
“Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”
“Give exclusive mode applications priotity”
“Enable audio enhancements”

Doing this solved this issue for me and I hope it helps some of you out there who don’t know what to do about this!
Thanks for reading and have fun playing!

Chiming in here with something that I saw brought up today - some people have reported that if you have the Battle.net App set to Run as Administrator by default, it can also cause this behaviour.

The App shouldn’t be run as Admin in general, because it can get all of the permissions it needs from Windows by default when it needs them, and elevating it to Admin across the board can cause other issues.
