Wow causes browser lag and computer feels slow when alt tabbing

Hi,

Just bought a new computer, Ryzen 5 7600x 32gb, nvidia geforce rtx 4070 super, win 11.

Everything seems to work great expect when I play wow and alt tab to browse internet or something from my computer. Feels laggy and slow. Game itself works great.

Tried to look it up and when I changed from directx 12 to 11 it stopped the browser/computer lag. Any idea whats causing this or should i just stick to play wow with directx 11 set? Memory usage seems normal

Other games dont cause any lag when alt tabbing

Its strongly recommended that people avoid DX12, as the implementation by Microsoft, is… incomplete, and known to cause lags on some systems.

This problem is not unique to World of Warcraft, or Blizzard.

Ok, found another one that helped. Directx 12 is on but I put G-sync monitor off from nvidia app and lag stopped also. Now its only normal refresh rate.

Well dont know which one is better to keep on, directx 12 or g-sync

Yeah I have the same issue with AMD FreeSync (6800XT).
Display is a ViewSonic Elite XG270QG, which has a G-Sync module but is capable of being used by AMDs FreeSync system.

I have this issue with every game I use with FreeSync, it’s nothing to do with WoW or DX12, as I experience this with non DX12 titles, too.
Could be G-Sync module related, could be display in general related, could be driver related, could be windows related, which I doubt. My guess is somewhere G-Sync module/display related.

As other people don’t have issues using G-Sync/FreeSync, it’s something you and I just have to live with.
Why you don’t have any issues in other games, who knows.
OR it really is somewhat WoW<–>DX12<–>nVidia related on your end and I have issues in general due to AMD/G-Sync mix/the old G-Sync module in my display.

At the end of the day it’s one of those things many don’t have issues with and few, like us, have, therefore understandably none of the companies spend energy looking into it.
