Hey there,
Just to check: by “clean setup” do you mean without any addons or without any other applications running at all? Because those would be the most common causes for game crashes, although if your PC crashes entirely there may be something more seriously wrong.
You can find more info about these and other steps to try here: World of Warcraft Lockups and Crash Errors.
That said, if it only happens when alt+tabbing and you’re currently running in Fullscreen display mode, you may be able to resolve it simply by changing to Windowed (Fullscreen) instead and setting a limit for the Background FPS.
-
Reset your user interface to make sure your files and addons are not corrupted.
-
Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues.
-
Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.
-
Run the repair tool to repair any damaged game files.
-
Set your components to factory default speeds to resolve crashes due to overclocking.
-
Changes to the software settings on your video card drivers may cause crashes or lockups. Reset your video driver settings to correct this problem.
-
Overheating can cause performance issues, game crashes, and full computer lockups. Check for overheating components.
-
Run ScanDisk and defragment your hard drive to try to repair any bad sectors.
Note: Do not defragment a Solid State Drive (SSD). -
Run the Memory Diagnostic Tool to fix any errors in your computer’s physical memory.
-
If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the game.
All done and still the same.
And only occurs on wow classic.
Did you try Windowed mode as well? If that still doesn’t work, we’d need your system files to help have a look.
