Wow Classic and Beyond

Hi All,

I have long since been a hardcore raider in WoW and am very much casual these days, if at all since BFA as for the first time in 14 years I find myself logging on to content I simply don’t enjoy.

Having played vanilla I am certainly not interested in playing classic (been there, done that etc) but I did have a thought about its future. I have never been active on the forums so please excuse me if this has already been discussed or raised. What if Blizzard launch classic and then after a year add TBC and then WOTLK (WOTLK naturally being my favourite expansion and when I raided seriously, and ofc favourite for many of us). At this point, rather than moving on to Cataclysm they added a new expansion which runs parallel to other events in the universe but from a different angle and does not implement a lot of the features that many hate, thus keeping it slightly more hardcore and community rich. You would then have two live versions of the games, perhaps running either past and present or maybe at a point the same overall story, but from different view points or story arches, and players could then choose the easy access play style of current WoW, or a slightly harder version depending on their desires.

Just an idea of course and perhaps a totally stupid one, but certainly something I would be interested in, even if poorly explained above.

Much love x

Can’t follow the logic.

I imagine Blizz can make that call after they see how well or how badly Classic does. The real test will be to see if it has any staying power.

I cant see this happening to be honest. However it would be interesting if they did it as a sort of timewalking server (classic)

I thought the point of classic was to relive the old game. Also if the developers had to make content for 2 different WoWs both would be of lesser quality. And it’s not even clear if there would even be a market for that. Right now the plan seems to be for only one classic server and it will be part of the main subscription. That makes me think blizzard doesn’t see it marketable as a seperate game as big as current WoW.
I don’t see it either, “hardcore” MMOs don’t seem to go very well for long and a “harder” WoW parallel to the endgame content that’s already in the current game, but with seperate progression and everything, I just don’t think that would really work out.

I think classic will be more like a playable museum than anything, and that’s what classic fans seem to desire as well. “No changes” is something I read often when I look into the classic forums.
