WoW Classic - Interface Options are not saved (2023 Edition)

Hello everyone,

This topic is as old as time itself, i found out after some searching and trying different possible solutions. Sadly non worked so I am turning to the collective mind.

The Issue:
Options within the “Interface” Tab are not saved between “/reload”, “logout” and “Exit Game” especially NPC Names and Nameplate Distance. Latter is reset even when scrolling around within the options window once it gets out of frame.

The most obvious of those options are the Nameplate distance und NPC Names in my case. Those option can be changed by me and are reflected in the game once I do. As stated above those are not saved and reloaded once I log into the game once more. In my Case NPC Names is back to “none”.
Oddly enough i tried resetting to default, NPC names after default: “hostile” after the relogg once again “none”.
As of this moment, we are talking about a clean install without any addon.

What I tried:
Ingame:
Turning it off and on
Trying different options
Changing to a rested area
Using different logout methods
Multiple Characters having the same issue

In Windows:
Multiple clean installs - both on the system drive as well as a second
Reinstalled the Battlenet Launcher - tryed both drives
Delete “Cache”, “WTF” and “Interface” folders (the clean install did that too, but here i am struggling  )
Used the repair / reset option within the launcher
Checked the “read only” option within the folderproperties (those will be checked again after uncheking them, since windows does it’s thing. I am able to rename, add, delete and do unmentionable stuff to every last bit of data within those folders!
A Fresh Administrator Account had the same Issue
Starting the Game in Administrator Mode did not solve the issue (even though it started without the cloud information like keybindings)
Reassigned Ownership of folders
assigned the .exe to the trusted “you can do to any folder whatever you want” Team within the securitydepartment

This issue is by no means game breaking. I tried so much stuff, right now i just want to know what’s happening here.

I should mention this is not a new Account. So my guess right now: something is not working with the serverside saved options.
Should this be possible i would ask to simply delete every serverside saved Config there is of my account. Just to rule out this possibility… i mean it’s just options i would have to go through again.
Most intriguing for me is the fact that even the default options are being overwritten.
As i mentioned the option NPC Names is “none”, default is “hostile”, but it always gets changed to “none”.

Yeah thats it as detailed as i can give you right now.
Help is much appreciated

Thank you in advance

Edit after 2 Days:
Greetings dear Reader,

After 2 Days of playing without said options (NPC Names and Nameplate Distance) it occured to me:

What If those options are simply not active on the Classic Era/ Hardcore Servers?

Nameplates always resetting back to 20 yards. - Some Years ago with classic release it was the same.

NPC Names do work, but just as a toggle: All or None.
They even save between relogs.

So I present

Solution (?)

Above mentioned options are not supported on classic era servers, hence they do “reset” the the last working setting.

Nameplate Distance set to 20
NPC Names set to None or All

(pending confirmation obviously, since this is just a hypotheses)

Thank you, i hope you got at least a laugh out of it.
