WoW Classic - Returning Player / Cant use auction house

I started WoW with Wrath of the Lich King expansion and played till Cataclysm expansion

I came back for wow 20th anniversary and noticed that, I can’t use AH. When I try to buy something, getting error below.

  • Error: That action is currently restricted.

While i was checking support, found the article below

So, somehow Blizzards thinks, I am a new player? I can’t also find my old transactions related with WoW

I was hyped when I heard classic is coming back but if I can’t use AH, there isn’t anypoint to play the game for me…

Hey Furky, and welcome back to the game!

Our account and billing systems have changed quite a bit since WotLK and Cataclysm, which would have been 10 to almost 15 years ago now, and so you would indeed be considered a new player as far as this restriction goes.

You can still use the auction house to sell items, use the mailbox with items, trade items, and receive gold. The restriction will be lifted automatically 26 days, and customer support is unable to bypass or remove these restrictions.

Once the restrictions are removed automatically, you shouldn’t encounter them again, even if you take a break from the game (although things could always change in the future).

I hope that it doesn’t impact your gameplay too much. Good luck with Classic!

Do you really wish me luck when I can’t buy anything from AH?

You have probably never played an MMORPG game seriously…

People expect to get advantage of fresh servers early days…

I bought classic, burning crusade, wotlk, cataclysm and paid montly fee to you

What I get in return? Sorry, we didnt keep your data, so we consider you as new player? Even if I have +10 years battlenet account…

I have been working in IT industry more than 10 years, this is one of the funniest thing I have ever heard…

they do keep your data from the past but on different servers which most likely only senior GM can see and they most likely made this restriction to fight gold sellers etc :sunglasses:
when it come to transactions i can see them under my account all the way back to 2009 :sunglasses:

I downloaded retail version of the game, only one of my toons is alive which was 80 paladin but currently 30. They probably just deleted ppl toon who didnt come back to the game certain amount of time. There is a poor business logic behind this, basically they don’t want old customers :frowning: Also my battlenet account is pretty active, I played hearthstone long time, bought diablo 4 and call of duty games…

blizzard dosent delete characters either.

Glad I found this thread after putting in 6 hours of playtime already and wondering why I can’t use the Auction House. 26 days without being able to buy anything from the AH for a fresh classic server. This policy must be from a different planet. And we’re even paying money for this.
