Just booted up my BNet launcher and WoW Classic had a 34 MB update. Ok fine. This completes, followed by some ‘cleaning up files’.
This completes, and then both Wow Classic and Wow Retail are launching WoW Classic.
Navigating to the game directory, I see that WoWClassic.exe (at 37.5 MB) is now present in both …_classic_ and …_retail_. I removed this from the retail directory, restarted the launcher and ran the Scan and Repair tool. Now Retail wants to install 27 GB which I can only assume is most of the game. Is my Retail installation actually gone, and I would have to re-download everything to be able to play again?
The same happened to me, scanning right now.
I just scanned with the repair tool, but it says no problems found. Is a reinstall needed?
After a long search I found a solution. I had to reinstall reinstall the battlenet launcher and the retail would update, about an 9GB download.
scanning did not work as it kept install classic.
I hope this helps other people.
Nice patch, boads well for the pre-patch.
quick update. Wow retail start now , but it starts from a wow.exe in the classic folder. This causes a new problem by not loading the addons.
There was no wow.exe in the retail folder so I copied it over to retail. If I start wow directly from the exe , in the retail folder, everything works normal again.
It seems that the battlenet loader goes to the wrong folder to get the wow.exe.
I hope they update this soon.
Since i updated this morning, when trying to load retail wow it just opens up my classic account. I’ve removed the launcher in the file folders that had classic wow launcher in the retail folder but it’s done nothing, now nothing will load.
