WoW Companion App - Data Error (Android)

Suddenly this morning my WoW Companion App stopped working.

After attempting to load the app I am left with a error message stating:

Data Error - Unable to load data from the network.

I am tried clearing my cache, coming on and off wifi, uninstalling and restarting my device. But nothing appears to have resolved the issue.

Any suggestions?

Blizzard recently changed the iPhone app to include the Authenticator so maybe they have changed the Android one too.

I’m getting the same thing on android. It’s the first thing that appears on screen after the Blizzard logo so you have no chance to log in, add an authenticator or anything. I have a new phone so thought that was the reason it wouldn’t let me in but am happy it’s not just me.
I don’t honestly know where to report phone app bugs …

Android phone. Same error since today.

I’m not having any issue on my end this morning, and am not seeing any mass reports of this issue so far. Could you try the troubleshooting for the WoW Companion app please?

If the issue persists, please provide:

  • The version of the app that you’re using
  • Your phone’s model
  • Your internet service provider

Thank you, Yryadorne. I’ve just checked again and it let me ‘download assets’ which wasn’t happening yesterday, after which I had to sign in again and everything seems normal.
I guess we were trying to log in while the updates were being added.

I just saw this post on our Mobile Bug Report forums, so it looks like this was the root cause of the issue.
