This is an older issue, i tried to research on it couple of tiems in the past and never succeeded. If I use my own language keyboard layout on macOS, and accidentally press certain keys the game immediately crashes (it does not have to be chat or anything particular), it happens about 80% of the times, sometimes it does not crash it and I can even use the characters on the chat in-game. I found no consistency in the behaviour as sometimes even after relaunching the game it works fine for a short period (minutes or so).
It happened on all my MacBooks in the past with various macOS version, multiple game installs, multiple clients, both with WoW retail and WoW Classic. Obviously tried repairing it and all those generic stuff.
The affected characters are Hungarian language, βΕ°β and βΕβ. Quite inconvenient as they are next to βEnterβ key and sometimes I accidentally fatfinger them and insta crash which causes to unsave all addon data (stats, etc.).
I found one related thread with many people complaining (many different languages too) and no relevant respond from Blizzard other than wasting time.
