I downloaded wow recently and noticed the perfomance was very low compared to other games I play. At minimum settings I was getting fps drops on certain abilites on a computer with GeForce 920m gpu and 12 gb ram… I later noticed that in the settings of WoW it only shows my Integrated Intel Graphics Card and there is no option for my geforce. I have checked my power settings and they are not at fault.
I also deleted all my graphics card drivers and re-downloaded/installed the latest ones from nvidia website
Edit: I also get a yellow exclamation mark error on my character screen that says my graphics card drivers are out of date.
Just a few check boxes that’s all.
Windows updates?
Repair tool on WoW?
Re-check Nividia GeForce Experience for updates?
RE-check website for updates?
Check for any other driver updates?
Re-install WoW… if all all else fail…
edit:
Also is your WoW running as administrator?
Windows updated
Wow freshly installed
nvidia driver fully updated
drivers all check
What windows are you using atm?
I found this thread from last December… Not sure if the same but might be worth a try?
sadly I already have seen and did it no help
Have you tried a roll back to a previous driver?
Does you Device Manager show the Card normally?
Is wow.exe retail, classic (if you have it) and launcher all in “run as Administrator” mode?
EDIT!!
Well I just went to see a little bit info on 920M… I have bad news… maybe…
"laptop gpus don’t get updated unless the manufacturer provides an update
mobile fermi/kepler is no longer supported as well"
If you go to download the latest drivers from Nvidia the 3rd tab with additional information says the following. Please read it carefully to see if it applies to your computer.
" Please note: Effective April 12, 2018, Game Ready Driver upgrades, including performance enhancements, new features, and bug fixes, will be available only for desktop Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, Volta, and Turing-series GPUs, as well as for systems utilizing mobile Maxwell, Pascal, and Turing-series GPUs for notebooks.
Following the posting of the final driver from Release 418 on April 11, 2019 GeForce Game Ready Drivers will no longer support NVIDIA 3D Vision or systems utilizing mobile Kepler-series GPUs. Critical security updates will be available for these products through April 2020. A complete list of Kepler-series GeForce GPUs can be found [here] nvidia. custhelp. com/ app /answers /detail/a_id/4780.
Those looking to utilize 3D Vision can remain on a Release 418 driver. Our software that enables the use of 3D gaming with 3D TVs, [3DTV Play], is now included for free in Release 418. It is no longer available as a standalone download. Our [3D Vision Video Player] will continue to be offered as a standalone download, for free, until the end of 2019.
Exceptions:
1. Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology are not supported (NVIDIA Optimus technology is supported).
2. The following Sony VAIO notebooks are included in the Verde notebook program: Sony VAIO F Series with NVIDIA GeForce 310M, GeForce GT 330M, GeForce GT 425M, GeForce GT 520M or GeForce GT 540M. Other Sony VAIO notebooks are not included (please contact Sony for driver support).
3. Fujitsu notebooks are not included (Fujitsu Siemens notebooks are included)."
Also one more thing. Have you tried compatibility mode? Win 7? Or Win 8?
I do not know how to rollback to a previous driver but
my DM shows both my graphics cards correctly and without problems
and all those 3 are set to “run as admin”
There are a couple things bundled up here I think. The 920M series of videocards indeed has not received driver updates for a while now which is something of a headache, but I think the root cause of the problem here is that the related video card isn’t actually being assigned (or made accessible) to WoW in the first place.
Here’s how to manually force this:
- Hit the Start button (or press your Windows key) and search for “Nvidia Control Panel” and press Enter.
- On the left, choose “Manage 3D settings“.
- Click on the “Program Settings” tab.
- Click on the “Add” button. An explorer window will pop up – choose “World of Warcraft” from there.
- Under the drop down menu, choose “High-performance Nvidia Processor“.
The exact phrasing may vary slightly, depending on installed Nvidia software version, but this should force access to the Nvidia video card for WoW. When that is done, please also make sure to set the laptop to a “high” power profile in the associated Windows menu - lower settings may lead to the (comparably weak) on-board video processor being used otherwise if the operating system does not correctly estimate the performance needs of the game.
Now, to loop back on drivers: you will want to reach out to the laptops manufacturer for that. The latest public reference drivers by Nvidia are indeed from April 2018, so if there are any more recent drivers available they’d have to come from the manufacturer.
I’ve already set wow.exe and global settings to use the nvidia gpu… beyond that… does no new drivers after 2018 mean that I cannot use my nvidia gpu (which I use for various other modern applications succesfully) in wow?
Problem is manufacturers don’t give a damm about drivers update (like Lenovo etc)
Only old version like 2years old drivers are stable drivers. Also nvidea drivers also isnt working.
We need some old competable setting in game as support.
Do you know why the new AMD 20.9.2 software on a RX 5700 XT is causing stuttering and blackscreens? I tried rolling back the driver where I did not experience this but now I get disconnected from the WoW servers due to (outdated graphics driver warning)
