Gonna try to keep it short.
I need help, bros.
Today i noticed a huge fps loss upon further testing i concluded that.
It only happens when i enter a new dungeon.
It goes away if i relog while inside the dungeon.
Further testing showed me that when i go from open world inside the dungeon, my GPU is barely used.
When i restart the game, the GPU is used.
So basically WOW does not use my GPU unless i restat the game while inside the instance. But i dont wanna have to keep relogging every time i enter a key.
Any of you smart minds have a fix for this?
THANKS
How to force a program to use your GPU in preference to your iGPU:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000090168/graphics.html
Also, in WoW, press ESC, go to Options, Graphics, scroll all the way down to almost the bottom, there is an option “Graphics Card”, change it from Auto Detect, to your GPU, save, and restart WoW
i went over this as part of my TS before posting, but it did not change the behavior.
I also watched numerous SUGGESTED VIDEO SETTINGS guides and have probably went over most of the settings and combinations but the only fix is still relogging while inside dungeon.
I just added a bit more to my original post, does the additional information help?
Full story, maybe details are important:
I followed a guide to improve my performance in raid, see the link:
I followed every step except some of the Elvui ones at the end.
It went great and i could see an improvement in big LFR raids.
I thought nothing of it and went on to complete a dungeon.
When i entered Dawn of the Infinite, i noticed the FPS drop.
The game was more or less unplayable.
From there one, i tried the following TS steps in no particular order:
Reset WOW graphic settings to default
Try to revert the changes i’ve made to their original (i didn’t know the original settings).
Resetting all my CVARS to default
Delete WTF and Interface for a clean start-up
Update Nvidia Driver
Force WoW to use Nvidia GPU
Put all graphic settings on minimum
Put all graphic settings on maximum
Checked several different videos and tried different settings.

Only thing that works is restarting/relogging while already inside an instance.
Something about this behavior triggers WoW to use my CPU, i can even see it in Task Manager. I wish i could replicate it without having to relog every time i enter a dungeon.
Currently deleted wow and doing a fresh installation.
Sadly i followed the guide blindly since i don’t know what most of the settings are supposed to do. really wish i hadn’t, since it was working just fine before.
Thank you for taking your time to look into this, btw.
I’m sorry, I have no further ideas to suggest, so good luck with the reinstall.
finished reinstalling. same behavior as before, i still need to restart game to force it to use GPU… thanks tho
Exact same issue. And i’m on AMD.
Tried everything you tried and more.
It’s not a setting/addon thing, and reinstalling doesn’t change anything.
Still no idea how to fix that issue, still forced to relog after entering any instanced content i’m going crazy.
This is mystic at this point.
