So I’m just listening to music, thinking of the Expansions WoW has over the years and it made me think. If the Expansions were themed around different eras of WoW’s life, what would they be and which expansion goes to what?
So just for fun, here’s my idea on what each Era of WoW would be.
Classic Era - The Era of Beginnings
-Vanilla
-Burning Crusade
-Wrath of the Lich King
I picked these for the first era since its style and theme is very similar to Vanilla WoW. Its always been in my head that Expansions that are Pre-Cata felt like the original era of WoW.
Post Cata - The Era of Discovery
-Cataclysm
-Mist of Pandara
These ones represent an era of WoW where we had started to explore new and undiscovered lands, from the depths and the far oceans of Azeroth. This era really stretches everything that we haven’t seen in WoW yet.
The Beyond Era - The Era of Worlds outside of Azeroth
-Warlords of Drenor
-Leigon
-Battle for Azeroth
-Shadowlands
Possibly the longest of the Eras, with many of its expansions following us outside of the comfort of Azeroth, from an Alternate Drenor and the Leigon corrupted Argus, to the visions of a Old god and the realm of the dead. This one takes us far from home and follows a very similar tone and even gameplay style.
Modern WoW - The Era of Azeroth
-Dragonflight
-The War Within & its 2 other upcoming Expansions
This era brings us back to a more simpler and familier scenario that many of us had started in, Azeroth. Dragonflight brings us back home as we find new discoveries and adventure, while also trying to maintain a new status quo on how WoW fuctions and plays.
These are just my random food for thoughts. You got an opinion? Have a better idea how it goes or you agree, or even disagree? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I’m all ears. I’d love to hear what others think.
