So ever since TWW I have been experiencing very strange issues with WoW, mainly the following:
- When tabbing out of wow, there is a random chance that when returning back to the game, it completely freezes. Sometimes it freezes for a few moments before going back to normal, others it freezes for a whole 30 seconds, and some others it triggers a complete re-render of the game; namely all of the objects, character, textures vanish before re-appearing again. Here’s how I can reproduce it.
1- I alt tab out of wow, or click on something on my secondary screen, it does not matter. I have noticed that when interacting with videos in Prime Video or Youtube or anything interactive really, it increases the chances of this happening exponentially, though the issue is not exclusive to me interacting with videos on the side.
2- I click back into wow (main screen), and the game completely freezes. From here, the following can happen:
2.1- The freeze is solved by me tabbing out and back into the game, which is annoying but it fixes it sometimes.
2.2- The game is not fixed by 2.1, and it stays frozen for 5-10 seconds before going back to normal.
2.3- The game freezes completely, for 30 seconds, sometimes even freezing windows, and by that I mean, I can’t interact with anything on my computer for a while.
2.4- The game freezes completely and, after a while all of the textures and everything inside wow dissapears before quickly reappearing again. Firs the mountains, the enemies, then characters, etc.
It’s very weird, and very annoying. Steps I have taken are:
- GPU drivers up to date.
- Windows 11 up to date.
- Clean GPU driver install.
- Tried different G-Sync settings on NVidia control panel.
- Tried several settings in wow, limiting FPS, background FPS and other things.
Nothing I do fixes it, and it’s super annoying.
