Remember the forum cries when Isle of Thunder came out where mogu would one shot people who were used to just stand there spamming their 1-2-3 rotations.
Isle of Thunder was one of my favorite places mobs did lot of damage but were not boring sponge fights.
Timeless isle personally i liked even more even though there were lots of sponge mobs but what i liked that place was that it was so unpredictable and what i loved was the pvp side and i really really liked being a total A-hole for kiting hard hitting rare elites or fire elementals to the AFK hot spot.
What would be a nice compromise is that we could have zone or 2 that were lot harder with elites and such.
For me personally what sucked me in wow was the open world i don’t give a flying fudge about instanced content really but i would like to have some fun zones with some harder mobs like there was in Timeless isle or in Suramar elite side of the city.

Meh, it’s not a hill I’m gonna fight and die on.
One of the reasons I despise leveling in this game is because the experience is so laughably easy and mind numbing that I’d find more enjoyment from watching paint dry or grass grow.
I think the game would be better if the world was just even a little bit more challenging but I can respect that most people probably disagree.
Get off all your green items and just put vendor items or stuff crafted by yourself. You will see change.
This is not a game problem but your mindset.
Unless I were to play a melee class that is dependent on a weapon to deal damage I can guarantee you that the experience wouldn’t be much different.
I’d still stand there and spam the same spells without a thought of crowd control or positioning because the mobs themselves are just inherently so weak that gear hardly matters.
It’d slow things down for sure since I’d have to pull just a couple mobs at a time rather than the standard 10+ but that wouldn’t exactly make things harder per se, just more tedious and time consuming.
…
Kinda like how Vanilla is. Which is about just as boring to level in.
You probably never play frost mage in vannila. That class still is joke. I have played every mmorpg game and leveling is boring in each of them.
Like i have said before i think there could be both types of zones especially now that with scaling and in shadowlands there is options what to do and where to go.
Higher difficulty zones could give more XP more gold but in exchange you would probably die alot more.
People that don’t want to do the difficult stuff already don’t want to do higher level dungeons or raids so i think there should atleast be zone or two that are filled with more challenging stuff for us that like open world that would be more difficult than blowing through mobs like butter.
I only played fire.
And most MMO’s I’ve played have indeed been pretty boring to level in. I’d say Guild Wars is probably my favorite followed by Rift.
What, killing a monster has to take 5 minutes and require a full 5 man party ?

Do you realikze that wanting after players to create their own rules in order to make game fun for them is such stupid way to play game.
If mobs is hard to kill it makes sense you cant pull more mobs. I really dont get your logic. Mobs arent hard in classic becouse you cant pull multiple mobs becouse they are hard or wtf you talking about. Making mobs harder will always makes you pull less. And classic leveling is actualy far more fun then anything on retail its not tedius at all. Its tedious propably just for people what dont realy like playing mmorpg game and they just want to play raid simulatror in the end game.
Who say that you need to get heirlooms? Who said that you need to go to that low level zone? You!
I recall rare elites in mists of pandaria a pain in the butt to kill, after that nothing has really felt like a “challenge” while leveling. Heck I even soloed the wanted quests in Drustvar while leveling to 120.
Mind you problem in WoW is the only way they can make stuff challenging is when there is a tank to tank it, else they compensate by making it hit really hard
Game developers. If there is way to make progress easyer players will always use path of least restistance and its your job as game developer to make sure players have fun. Making players respossible for their own fun never works in game industry. Never.
Welcome to WoW, a game focused on endgame content since TBC
Fortunately leveling process is like 5% of this game
I’ve been playing WoW and other MMORPG games for about 15 years, give me a break. Leveling in classic is boring af, you just stay and press 1 button + autoattack. Can you tell me how this is MMORPG and retail isn’t?
Please, don’t force your Classic ideas into Retail. Play your outdated game and let us enjoy what WoW is about - endgame content.

I think the mobs are fine the way they are.

No. Nonono. Blizzard should stop trying to bribe people into doing content.
Just like Warmode shouldn’t have ANY non pvp bonuses.
I can agree with there being ‘a more difficult version of existing zones’ that you can opt into to. But not ‘difficulty exclusive’ stuff. None of that.
