WoW IS a solo player game

As much as it is a multiplayer game. Are the people arguing against solo player content because its an MMO, even aware that solo player style is encouraged if not enforced?

  1. Leveling , you even get punished by getting less exp if you do it in groups
  2. Sharding is also a solo player feature
  3. Campaign’s and storylines
  4. Mage tower
  5. Thorghast (arguably)
  6. Legacy xmog/mount farming(most are done solo)

As well as most of the WQ, weeklies, professions, even rewards as the slime serpent for soloing Plaguefall

The point is, WoW player base is around 30+ yes? Trust me, without generalising, most of these people after a days work, dont wanna come to a videogame and make friends and discuss tactics on discord.
Again, not generalizing, is just my opinion

It would greatly benefit the game if we had more single player things to do, similar with mage tower. For cosmetics , mounts etc.

You only get less xp for kills, quest xp stays the same.
Getting less xp when grouped is not slower than solo though, as you kill faster so your net X/hour is more than solo play.

well
most relevant content in the game (ie end game) is multiplayer
so not really

yes there are solo activities in the game
but the things that you described are mostly secondary activities.
for some players at least

Wow isn’t a solo player game. It’s an MMO that you can play solo, if you ignore most of the endgame content.

It has content that you can do solo, that doesn’t make it a solo player game.

Whats the point of this thread?

This.
It’s neither a solo game nor a group game.
It’s a multiplayer game that has solo content and group content. Some content that is flexible and can be either.
It offers choice (except when it forces one type of content in to campaigns or significant achievements such as pathfinder) which whilst rare enough can still be annoying.

I don’t post on any other character. (unlike you with your little army)

You should keep your mouth shut and let people think you’re ignorant, rather than opening it and removing all doubt.

People can play the game however they like. If you treat it as a solo player game there will be all sorts of things you can’t take part in.

There is nothing wrong with some preferring to play alone. Just like there is nothing wrong with players wanting to do all the things that involve other players. Like raids, group quests, battle grounds, dungeons, arena, world bosses, events like siege/community feast, trial of style etc etc.

Then why are you jumping from alt to alt as people discover you have nothing to say?

Are you hoping for droves of adoring fans to hop in screaming “wow, such insight, wow is a single player game!!!”.
Bit disappointing when anyone with an ounce of critical thought trounces you and you have to make a new alt in order to appear insightful.

Yeah sure. With a title like this… “WoW IS a solo player game”. Seems like you forgot to write “(Opinion)” behind that title…

MMO don’t say that you have to group, only that many players online-playing in the same environment.

Mostly this is misinterpreted that a MMO must cater group content.
So I agree there should be more solo player focus and much less for m+

The title is followed by “as much as its a multiplayer game”

Name a single relevant solo aspect of the game?

Can’t seem to find a solo option for raiding and m+

Your claims are ridiculous. Aside from that, solo content and a wider variety for gearing is far more modern for mmorpgs. ESO does an exceptional job at it. A shared world does not at all mean everything has to be forced grouped content and Blizz should absolutely heavily lean into creating actual and accessible, relevant solo content to attract new players.

Yes this, exactly, especially the bit in brackets. People play different parts of WoW and they’re happy doing so. Something for everyone.

That was my point as well. I went against the people who are always flaming “its an mmo make friends or play other games”

Yes, I realised that’s what you were saying but I didn’t agree with everything. I don’t think we do need extra/new solo stuff. I think in Dragonflight they’ve given us a lot.
The reason I picked out Gram’s post was about being forced to do something in a group when someone isn’t able to. New things have been blocked to solo players in DF which weren’t before.
