WoW is ageist

Try flying some of the races to gold level at my age.

Out eye sight is gone. Our reaction time is gone. Out memory is increasingly being challenged as well.

All of the “cool” stuff inside of wow is based on reaction time so that is not really cool.

Why does everything have to be phrased in terms of oppression?

No, it’s not ageist.

It is too hectic and visually noisy though, but that’s not discrimination, that’s just Blizzard deciding that faster is more fun.

Your opinion.

What hardware are you using? Usually with events for online games that need quick reaction time are exponentially easier with faster hardware.

Is it though? I get it with the races, but other than that, unless you’re doing really high-end content, the gear can easily help you get quite a few smacks to the face and keep going. This isn’t Tekken, perfect execution is far from a requirement in most of the game’s content.

Obviously, I posted it. Whose opinion would it be if not mine?

Your post is likewise your opinion and worth no more than mine.

And you posted that to tell me that? You need to post that?

Go argue with somebody else please

Yeah, I did - and I’m not going anywhere just because you tell me to.

If you want to put forth your opinions, be prepared for others to do so as well. Otherwise don’t do it. You have no right to put yourself on a pedestal.

Well, that is usually the downside to getting older.

That’s not the games fault. That’s life.

The game is getting faster all the time though. Faster and faster and faster. I’m not really sure why that’s the case, but it is. Try to compare the APM of a Classic player to a retail player and it becomes very obvious.

It’s a problem because WoW expects you to play for many hours at a time. This isn’t like an RTS where each game lasts 20 minutes.

But it’s not ageist. It’s just fast :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, yeah sure. Let us compare the classic game from 2004 era with the game 20 years later. Such a “good idea” to prove a point.

The vision of WoW in 2004 and today in 2024 has dramatically shifted. And despite knowing this, you people can’t let go.

If you would have ever played a RTS, especially against professional players, you would know that’s not the same situation.

I’m a slow RTS player. Others play it incredibly fast. Recently a friend and I did play WC3 together against AI. Crashes aside, a single AI on normal did beat us both easily. Not because the game is at fault. Not because the AI is too strong/fast. No, we were too slow.

Because we’re both casual players when it comes to RTS games.

Same with WoW. It has more than enough “slow content” for the people prefering that. Even Delves now as an Endgame activity without a timer.

And yet the game is still being blamed by those people instead of them asking themselves "Maybe I’ve become too old for this :poop: "

Well yes, it shifted towards becoming faster, among other things.

The point being that if you could keep up with WoW but no longer can, maybe it isn’t your age.

I’ve played RTS for almost 30 years, including SC2 in Master League. I know my way around RTS’s though I’m no world champion.

I know it’s not the same situation and that is precisely the point. It’s okay for an RTS to be 150+ APM, but it’s not okay for an MMORPG because the play session is much longer.

No… it doesn’t. It has easy content, but that’s not the same as slow. It’s the class that’s fast, so basically anything you do is fast as well as a consequence. You may get punished less for failing, but the amount of casts and abilities being fired does not go down much if at all.

Sounds to me a lot like “not my problem” for me and other young people.

Define “my age”.

Troll post. I will give it 3/10

A point for effort and two points for the responses it got.

Life is ageist. At some point you have to accept that you won’t be able to perform as well as when you were young.

Which is exactly what I said before. WoW was slow back then in 2004. It isn’t anymore these days. If you can’t keep up today, that means you grew too old for it. Which is normal and nothing wrong with it.

I loved playing shooters as a teenager, especially PvP centered ones. I am 25 now, still able to do it good enough if I want to. I just don’t enjoy it anymore. And in 10-15 years I won’t be able to keep up in shooters anymore either. And I’m fine with that.

Except maybe…strategy games, every gender is … ‘ageist’.
My father used to work in constructions 15 years ago, then moved to an office job. If he tries now to work in construction he won’t be able to do as he used to. Does that mean everything is ageist now?

I also used to play mobas and shooters all night long, now I can barely keep up with the new generation of 13-15 yo teens. It’s not a problem, cause I’m in the stage where I can keep up with Wow for example, and perform well. I’ll probably do it for another 5-10 years, then this will also become harder for me.
