WoW is freezing my Windows

Happens almost everyday, sometimes like yesterday I had it three times in a row, the whole computer freezes up, even the LED on my keyboard stops moving, numlock unresponsive, no sounds.

It’s not a “freeze for a few seconds”, it’s a “OS froze up” have to hard restart, I’ve searched and found so many threads like this, as well as on Reddit, but nobody seems to have a clear solution. It happens when I alt tab, which has been brought up by other threads, but this is incredibly frustrating and I’m worried it will end up corrupting my Windows installation or drivers if it continues to do this so often.

This sounds more like a driver issue imho.
Could you give some details on your hardware and which GPU driver you are using?

Also if you are running WoW in DX11 or 12.

Nvidia driver is up to date, how can I upload a DxDiag here?

My hardware is fine, I can even run Cyberpunk 2077 on high settings:

GTX 3070, i9, 16 GB RAM.

Where can I check if the game is running on DX11 or 12?

In the graphics options, scroll down.

There have been some problems with the last couple versions of the Nvidia drivers (basically since the first driver for the 5000 series came out).

Some game developers even recommend downgrading to the december version.

I looked there before I responded and I did not find it. Could you show an screenshot or explain precisely which part it is?

There you go, 5sec google

Switching to DX11 on a Nvidia GPU will most likely have a performance penalty.

Third option is DX11 Legacy which is only a last resort since it kills performance.

If switching to DX11 doesn’t help, try going back to an older driver, like the december 2024 one.
