WoW is/got/gets boring, and this is why

I have finished the story line and got pathfinder 2 and now I am like there is nothing to do. Nazjatar is dumb doing the same thing over an over (daily’s). Mechagon is okay but not my kind of cup of tea. The problem of Mechagon is that the goals that I need to work to are not tangible. And the final goal of Mechagon is to get some mounts. At least that is how I feel.

The problem of WoW is that there is really nothing else to do besides gearing. Hence, doing Mythic+ dungeons or raids outside lfr. While doing these kind of stuff can be fun but not every expansion. I don’t feel like raiding (outside of lfr) and doing Mythic+ another expansion too, knowing that all that trouble to get good gear will be for nothing. We need more stuff like Mage Tower and artifact appearances to keep things fun and not boring. Things that are not worthless after one expansion and the goal to get it is tangible and achievable in a considerable amount of time.

And PVP is only fun when you are good geared, or you get one shotted by everyone else.

Another problem is the class design. I play only melee classes. I have tried ranged classes but I didn’t like them that much. I have got a 110 of every class except Priest (lvl 23 or something).
Most of the classes are not fluid or when they are fluid they are too easy and not fun like Fury and DH. Take as a good example the Ret Paladin (easy but not fluid). When all your spells are on cd, you are literally waiting a second, in worst case 2 seconds, to be able to do something besides auto attacking. Another one is the Arms Warrior (more difficult but not fluid), when you have no more rage there is nothing to do besides waiting for some rage. I know you can jump away and then rush to the target to get rage, but this is dumb. And it can’t be done the whole time. I don’t want to use his only good AoE damage, blade storm, to generate rage for a single target knowing that there will be more targets in a few seconds. This is stupid and feels frustrating.

I don’t know about you guys but this is how I feel. The past couple of weeks I have been gold farming because there was nothing interesting to do. However, I made 4 WoW tokens and bought a toy and changed a character’s appearance… It was fun for a while but gold farming gets boring too.

For now, I will not play WoW anymore even though I have still sub for 3+ weeks. I am really looking for a new expansion. Because my problems won’t be saved by the coming patches.

WoW Classics has ugly graphics, so that’s definitely a no for me. However I do like the old talent tree, so much more customization!

This is just my opinion I am curious how you guys feel about this.

EDIT:
The content nowadays is boring due to the several reasons above. To summarize (number doesn’t say anything about how important):

  1. The classes are too simple and not engaging. In addition some classes have issues as mentioned above.
  2. Too much repeatable quests. --> Too much of the same thing. Too much USELESS grinding. Note: I don’t mind grinding. I failed >60+ times at the mage tower before I got my WW Monk appearance at ilvl ± 890.
  3. Endgame is about raiding and mythic+ --> No engaging and tangible end game content besides gearing.
  4. Doing some old content is okay but the rewards are not satisfactory enough given how much time they take. For example unlocking flying in Draenor. It is useless because it takes too much time to unlock flying given you only spend 10 lvls (90-100) there at most. Most achievements have the same problem. The rewards do not satisfy the hour spends to get it. Rewards should be tangible and satisfy the amount of time it takes to get it.

Finally to give you an idea how I play WoW. I play mostly in the holidays and I was playing for 6 weeks straight before I decided to stop. And I played 8+ hours a day. I got already bored 2 weeks playing this game because of this dumb rep grinding to get flying unlocked. I could choose between unlocking flying and zandalari troll OR go raiding and mythic+ for gear. Easy choice, I will keep flying and zandalari troll while my gear will be useless after this expansion. I don’t feel much about old content or achievements given they are not satisfactory and tangible enough.

If this was true, it would be like in the old times and it would be waaay more fun.

Now you have those stupid scaling catch bs mechanics for dumbasses that wannt to ding and own instantly.

I know how you feel. I usually get most things done in like 1-2 months, and a patch cycle is 6 months or so. So 4-5 months of boredom.

What have people been doing all of WoW then? There has never been much else to do except raiding/pvp/RP and now m+.

That’s the point of an rpg game. Progress with your character, get better equipment and perform better. Legion had instanced pvp scaling and it was absolutely horrible, the lowest point of pvp in the history of WoW. If you want everyone to have equal chances then play a battle royale game.

Everything will get boring after a while. But I like when there’s nothing to do in WoW from time to time. This allows me to either focus more on other characters or something else completely unrelated to WoW. It’s good when your life doesn’t revolve around only one video game.

Tell a lie a thousand times and someone will eventually believe it.

Here’s that someone.

What bfa advertised was destruction of major cities. That’s what the hype was… But what we got are 2 Island ( or 1 based on faction) and solving their problems. Lol!

The warfront feature, really was a poor design. It gave a feeling of no immersion to the game, just an instance like nothing ever happened.

Blizzard doesn’t keep a record of the event from pervious expansion or they try to plan the future story, gameplay, etc for the game. They just dump anything that cross their mind like Azerite.

World of warcraft has been gotten worse every expension.
The problem is that there is no good alternative.
FF14?
Boring like all final fantasy games are.
Eve online.
Superior to world of warcraft on every aspect exept the most important one:
Immersion.
Flying around in a space ship going from place to place and sometimes fight makes for poor immersion.
In world of warcraft(especialy the older version) i felt like i was a druid in this massive open world.
Swimming, flying, crafting, fishing, first add, hunting, etc.
I could do so much and interact with a world.
So few mmo’s seem to get the world part right.
And even blizzard is moving away from what made it a king in the first place.
The WORLD of warcraft.
One big massive open world with alot of stuff to do.
From sitting on a chair in the middle of nowhere to feeling like a warlock because of the long quest line you have to go through to enslave a powerfull demon.

And all that blizzard is slowly replacing with just more boring raids.

On a related note: I really hate blizzard shrunk my demon pets.
It kills the feeling of me having enslaved powerfull beings to my will.
Remember when summoning a doomgaurd was costly but worth it?
Or summoning an inferal in lowbie area for laughts.

Why does WoW get boring once you have unlocked flying and hit exalted with all the factions?
It is not because of a lack of stuff to do in-game but rather and exhaustion from doing too much of the same thing. The repetitive nature of the rep grind stuff is what makes WoW feel more like a chore and less like a game and we all avoid chores if we can. Once your “chores” are done you don’t feel like logging into the game again due to the memory of what you had to do to get them done and just now someone finds you some more chores for you to do.

So how do you get rid of WoW fatigue?
You can’t right away, it is psychological and your brain is “allergic” to all things WoW. To continue playing you have to force yourself to log on and find something else to do that does not feel like a chore. This will depend greatly on what kind of person your are. If you are a collector there are stuff like mounts and battle pets to collect. If you are a social person and just like to talk to other people playing the game then role play might work for you. It is the social factor in WoW that brought a lot of players to the game, but the recent increase in toxicity in-game makes players reluctant to initiate contact with other players. The need for socializing in-game is still there and very strong, players are just too careful these days with whom they start a conversation and this creates the illusion that the social aspect of WoW is dead. If achievements are your thing your can try the “hidden” stuff in the game like Baa"l or the “Waist of Time”. If you like games like Pokemon try the pet battles in WoW, they are pretty good as Pokemon type games go. There are also a bunch of achievements that go along with pet battles so it might work for the achievement people as well. Instead of looking at WoW pet battles as part of WoW rather look at it as a game on it’s own because except for it happening in the WoW world it is really a game on it’s own. It has it’s own methods of collecting the little critters and leveling them that has nothing to do with any game play at all. The pets you get via island expeditions, dungeons, raids or killing rares, you can buy on the auction house so you don’t need to do any WoW “content” to get them. Looking at it as a game on it’s own will help you get over the mental fatigue you got from rep grinding.

The bottom line is there are stuff to do in WoW when you are done with flying and rep, but you will have to force yourself to go and look for it due to WoW fatigue.

DING DING DING, we have a winner!

We need more challenging content with just cosmetic rewards.
But future Mage Tower should scale with our ilvl so no challenge is easier with better gear.

MMO’s are probably not the game for you. They are by nature full of repeating the same things over and over to make small improvements to your character or characters.
That is the nature of the game. MMO’s can`t keep constant new content rolling out every week and if they did it would cause major problems for the player base that don’t pay as much as they would be overwhelmed with to much content.

I play most of the classes some in multi specs, some are more interesting that others. As for your comment on classic talent trees, you had no real choices on talents , you had to pick the cookie cutter talents otherwise you would not be as effective. Beyond those key talents in the tree most were pointless to have and just fillers to make it look like you had choices.

OP, have played other classes and specs? Have you progressed some achievements for titles, mounts, pets? The pets-system is especially challenging if you don’t read guides. Have you done the lore-master yet? What about transmog or reputation-farming in the older content? Have you tried RP on ArgentDawn? Met some new friends? Have you found and tested the few mini games, like the tower defense game? Where you in the neverending labyrinth for a mount yet? Have you persuaded the secret things in general you can do inGame?

Roll horde and gank low level or low ilvl alliance players. It’ll give you content for days.

Having a blast in casual PvP / World PvP with a 420ilvl DH and i’m usualy among the top 3 in dmg & kills of both factions.

I know unranked PvP isn’t worth much but you don’t need good Gear to make a difference. Unless you consider emissary gear as “good” gear but i wouldn’t call “good” something you can obtain in a matter of days through WQ.

It actually is. You get an idea how to play your class in PVP and how you get countered by more experienced players.

I just came in here to say I am so tired of seeing this phrase get thrown out.

“Ah yea, the game has issues but I am unwilling to admit to the fact that the game can be criticized or is in need of improvement, so you should probably just move on and leave things to us non-complainers that would rather accept the status-quo than listen to you whiners.”

If everyone had this attitude of just accepting whatever gets put in front of you, we’d have the gaming industry crashing down around us.

Oh wait…

For me wow is fun and 8.2 patch is the best since like forever because of the world pvp in Nazjatar when call to arms quest is up.

Well MMO used to stand for Massive Multiplayer Online. But there’s no multiplayer at all, especially massive.
There’s also no Role-Playing Game in wow, since roles in wow are as same as roles e.g. in overwatch or hots (dps, healer, tank).

So basically I assume that you are looking for MMORPG, and when you say wow is boring, in response you should hear “Match based games are probably not the games for you.”

And yet every man and their dog used same talents because there were like 1-2 viable builds.
